Repairing Drivers
After a couple of crashes I want to repair my drivers so that I feel sure the drivers haven't become corrupted.
I tried to copy fresh ones off another partition but I need permission. I can't seem to change them.
Is there a way I can make sure that I can make sure my drivers aren't corrupt?
Thanks

Re: Repairing Drivers
why do you think they are corrupted?
you can always just update drivers in the device manager or rerun the installer. if it's windows8, you'll need to enter test mode again.
i doubt if there is a problem anyway...

Re: Repairing Drivers
GaryB I am having no luck with a new build where I bought the farm and am using Windows 8.1.
What is test mode....?
Ihave re seated the PCI-e 1X connector several times and now I at least know the correct slot to use.
There are 2 on the ASRock Extreme 6 Z97, one won't recognize jack, but the original slot that showed drivers were found and returned error message.
This has happened several times.
Any ways I am personalizing the power settings for Never/Never & high performance, etc.
So I have no issues other than the Scope XITE-1 Driver being recognized.
Any tips on test mode or any thing else you think of, please post here so everyone might benefit as this OS with a measely MX-100 SSD is lightning fast so I really like things with 8.1 so far.
I also removed the M.2s from the older ASRock and they work fine, but this one is waiting for the Samsung SM951 to show up here in about 7 weeks.
So until then a few MX100 SSDs are more than enough.
Bought the SM951 after CES 2015 and was told 16 weeks as the OEM got first crack at these speed demons.
Thanks.

Both of which should resolve your driver issues.
Re: Repairing Drivers
What a breeze and I really like WIndows 8.1.
The SSDs and Z97 benefits are much appreciated, boot times are basically non existent.
Scope needs about the same time, but Windows is fast
Thanks Mates

Re: Repairing Drivers
Yep love those boot times. Scope is faster at 96khz coz I'm only loading 5 mastering plugs and a synth or two ....
Re: Repairing Drivers
What about other apps. Should I install them just like the W 8.1 EFI thing above as well..?
Seems Bidule has now turned into a read only app that doesn't recognize ASIO drivers unless I save my folders for projects onto the Desktop, and other folders as well are doing odd things like Zebra 2 not allowing presets made to be copied back into their original folders after the re installation.

Re: Repairing Drivers
Not sure since I left test mode on - its still on to this day
Anyone else know bout bidule ?

Re: Repairing Drivers
test mode is for unsigned drivers. it shouldn't affect Bidule in any way.
Re: Repairing Drivers
What about folder permissions ?
Re: Repairing Drivers
possibly. if you move stuff from another drive, sometimes windows will "protect" the system by limiting permissions for the moved files...
Re: Repairing Drivers
Yeah I re installed Bidule and still due to the sheer number of other plug ins I use now, I can start from scratch and lose everything, or just store Bidules' projects to the desktop which is actually quicker when wanting to load a default project w/o all of the excess stuff.
But yuze guys really came through with the info for me, so thanks.
Now I can get back to playing instead of all of this file folder permission fuck off messages I was seeing...
