My Scope 5 install has been working fine for awhile, then suddenly it wouldn't run. I started getting the ol' messages:
"A communication error with Scope (board 0) has occurred. This can normally be corrected by reloading the dsp's..."
(clicked on "Yes"), then:
"Hardware could not be set up properly."
"Could not gain access to the Scope hardware."
I've tried reinstalling with a fresh download, changing slots, cleaning contacts, dusting w/compressed air, re-seating, reinstalling the driver, rebooting. I got the "Your new hardware is installed and ready" OK from windows XP, but it's not working. The card's a Power Pulsar.
Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
how about reseating the daughter board(i/o)?
remove the 4 nylon screws and reseat the i/o board(carefully).
if that doesn't do it, your card might need some repair...

Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
OK, did it.
No dice, same messages.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers again - got same messages.

Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
you'll need to contact support for an RA.
write a short note explaining the problem and list what possible solutions you've tried. Ralf will guide you from there, but first, one further check- what is the samplerate set to? is the card set to internal or external sync(you should actually check, if you have an active livebar)?

Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
The card was repaired in October, because it had corrupted its card number making the keys not work.
It got some error messages shortly after that, but they stopped completely, after I did all the stuff mentioned in this topic.
It won't run any software, starting the other day when I started the computer.
I did sometimes sync as slave with spdif or adat (with no probs), but this is a new install. I don't have any cables on it right now.
I may as well try the cleaning and seating things again; I did replace a drive shortly before getting the problem - maybe something got on the card from it.

sure, but did you actually double check the setting?Pete wrote:I did sometimes sync as slave with spdif or adat (with no probs), but this is a new install. I don't have any cables on it right now.
Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
It's a new install - nothing Scope starts up - no livebar, or anything else.
I've installed it 4 times now, with uninstalling, restarting, remove old registry entry, restart, remove card, rename the old folder.
I think it was last running at 48khz as master, last time scope was up. I suppose I could put the card back w/cables, and give the opportunity to sync to the other gear.
I did find out that two of the messages show up when the card is out of the computer, so they aren't from card error. They're the ones that say "bad installation; can't access the hardware", and don't mention reloading dsp's.
System information says the card's interrupt isn't shared with anything else.

Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
that definitely sounds like a bad card. i'm sorry to be so negative.
Re: Scope Install or Hardware Prob?
Gary,
Thanks for your help.
Apparently I bumped some legs together on a Sharc chip, probably when changing drives. Of course I should have removed the card first, but, well, I'm a bass player.
I was looking at the card under a magnifying lamp, or I wouldn't have noticed.
I have straightened them, so I hope it still works.
