Hi you all

after all advice and help I've decided to completely reinstall my system so after format C: everything seems to be ok now!!
I'm test driving it for two days now, and NO major problems

according to the man from the pro-audio shop something might have been wrong in the registry, I just wonder what f**ked it up in the first place??

again many thanks for all the help

I have some serious problems with one of my systems
for some reason my bios was reset and at the same time
I've replased one project-board for a pro-board
I've also put a bigger power supply

my system:
Asus p4p800
cpu PIV 3.0GHz
1.0 Gb ram
2x Scope professional with Sync Plate
1x Scope project
2x 120 gig sata HD maxtor
matrox p750 triplehead
benq dvdrw
asus DVD
Power supply antec 480 watt
case Antec tower
Scope 4.5
windows XP pro.sp2
Cubase SX 3
Gigastudio 96

boards are in PCI-slots 1,3,5
5 STDM cables connected

normaly in a setup with an other Scope system
and connected with O2r Yamaha
roland D20 as midikeyboard
but problems also appear with nothing connected.

Problem:
Scope freezes
and the system freezes completely
I also get DSP overload messages
and there is no more STDM-connections between board 1 and 2

Hope you can help me
regards
Kor

yes I did.

I just had a look at my cset.ini file
this is what it says:
[Host]
Scoperev=128

[Host-Config]
Numboards=1
Board0=Host

I know this is not correct
anyone knows what it should be for this system?

now I've put back the old projekt board-still same problem.

I've put a new battery in the motherboard
because the Bios has reset itself again

I've unistalled/re-installed drivers and software again from all three boards.

I've uninstalled Cubase because I tought at first cubase wase causing the problem, but not.

Ive unistalled gigastudio because I think that the Bios reset enableded HT and it did not start up anymore

any thoughts about how to go on! how to tackle this problem

can the motherboard be broken?

Should I format C disk and start all over again?

thanks

Check your IRQ settings. After a BIOS update it's possible you are sharing IRQ's now. And change your cset.ini to:

[Host-Config]
Numboards=3
Board0=Host

[board0]
boardid=0
[board1]
boardid=1
[board2]
boardid=2

Try to change the order of the board ID's if your problem still excists. I really don't think your MB is broken, just check your BIOS settings. And if all fails, try to run your system with just one Pulsar installed and see if it crashes. When everything seems O.K. install the next board.

And definately check the airflow in your system. Three boards produce a lot of heat, so be shure to install extra fans, keep the lit off and place an external fan if your PC still runs hot.

There might be a light and a heavy version:

light: the new mobo needs a complete OS reinstall for all the drivers to work properly.
Reason might be the low level chipset drivers.

heavy: The new mobo is already screwed and7or you have a PSU prob.

Are the chipsets different between old and new MoBo ?
sorry if I didn't make it clear but I didnot change my MoBo

I've changed the power supply and one Scope-board.

dirty connectors, a faulty card, static damage to the motherboard or memory, active sensing filling midi buffers or an irq conflict, these are the most likely culprits. what are the chances that the new ps is bad out of the box? i've seen that before. maybe asus probe or the intel monitoring software can tell you if all the voltages are proper.

Invest in a quality PSU. :wink:

Hopefully not, cause this would point to some serious damage.

cheers
thats what I did
I think it was here on planetrZ
where I red about good ps from Antec
my new ps is Antec 480 watt

@gary : I've installed Asus probe what should be the readings?

@booster: can I just copy and past what you put there in the cset.ini file?

thanks again

check the power supply voltages as you open a project and use the system. the 3.3 volt line should be that, the 15v, 15volts, etc.

you also might try running the prime95 torture test. get it here: http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Irq 23 is sharing with creamware scope and
standaard enhanced pci to USB controller

I've try to disable the Usb port but I need one for my steinberg dongle, it seems to be the one sharing irq's
irq 21 is sharing two scope boards

there's your problem. just disable the port that is sharing. it has a couple of numbers and letters in it's name. go to the device manager, open the usb section and disable the controller with that name. all your usb ports will still work as you probably will still have 3 or so controllers left.

still the same !!
I try to load a preset in my STM4896, it also loads all the devices in inserts, then It freezes
It reads:C:/.../devices/masterverb.pro in the livebar. everytime the same place it gets stuck

????

I've now just tried the preset file in my other system: no problem!

if you want to be sure there are no hardware problems you can run prime95. try defragging the c drive. run chkdsk.

I've put that on my other system to see what it does, I can run it but it don't mean S**t to me what says

ok now I've loaded a coplete project with vrc-128 and a cubase project(midi)
I can see that it looses synchronisation because the transport bar in top of the cubase song goes off and on to stop and play
than after about ten minutes it freezes, and this time not only scope but the whole system

well, there's something not set up properly.
usually that freeze is caused by active sensing on a keyboard controller overfilling midi buffers(fixed by filtering/turning off active sensing) or a midi feedback loop overflowing midi buffers(solved by breaking the loop. i can't beleive that you would have that problem AND a shared irq after all this time, but....
