This is a strange observation
while running Gigastudio 3.
My Scope Projekt system works fine
but when Gigastudio is active my computer
turns weird!

Anyone else having this problem?

If so, Is there anything to do about it?

Should I get a dedicated Giga-compatible Soundcard to avoid this thing?

you have a giga compatible soundcard. hans zimmer has used it so through several major blockbuster movies, so it MUST work well.

there's something not set right or installed right, most likely.

Yes, of course.

It´s just a matter of hunting down the problem and fixing it.

Easier said then done,
My computer knowledge is zero.

well, it's gonna improve, then....

i can't give much help at this hour, but i'll check the thread later.

first, i'm not there to see your machine. i don't know enough to help(and neither does anyone else), so you gotta answer some questions.....

who did your install? if you did it, was it from scratch(os and all) or just the new app? what else is installed on the computer? what are your computer's specs(ram, processor type and speed, motherboard, accessories etc)?

Well,

I installed Scope 4,5 on an
Intel dual CPU @ 2,8GHz,
1Gig of RAM

Thereafter I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the Gigastudio 3 Ensemble applications.

And Gigastudio works but seems to be taking up a lot of computer power:

Audio Running: Scope PulsarII 1000-10000%

The current Creamware GSIF-driver is 1.7 and what more;
I have a Pulsar 2 as the main board and a Luna/Powersampler as a Z-link device.

I´d be very grateful for any tips on how to configure Gigastudio3 with my Scope Project setup!

Furthermore the computer is not connected to internet and I´m the only one operating it.
However I have not gone crazy and reinstalled Win XP Professional.

All Creamware exclusive´s (synths etc.) works great.
Perhaps it´s just an unimportant bug?

hi I have gigastudio 2.5 but works great.
I don't know about the 3.0 version but with the 2.5 you have to disable HT.
what is exactly the problem?
it runs ok ? is it the cpu monitor from windows?

It´s the space where the
audio driver of scope shows up in Gigastudio,

Example:
Audio Running: Scope PulsarII 4500%

The box is located at the lower toolbar of Gigastudio.

yes HT=hyperthreading.
I'm not saying you should. I only know that I once sent the diagnostic report to Tascam and I got an E-mail back stating I should disable HT,

I'm not at my system I don't know what the cpu meter says. but If everything runs fine I would not be worried about it.

I assume the program doesn't crash on this (as you didn't mention it), so it's just a false info by Giga.
Any value beyond 100% is nonsense anyway, and the erroneous number is possibly caused by a split processing between CPU and DSPs - Giga doesn't have any idea about the latter, so it may fill in a wrong value (or an arbitrary one).

Thanks for all the help!

And I think Tom is on to something.

I´ll try Gigastudio in a project and hopefully it´ll work.

Perhaps later I´ll contact Tascam and inform them about this,
Although their support is kind of like Creamware´s

I think that Astro is right on about the Dual CPU config. causing havoc, I know of a friend who has similar problems with AMD dual core w/ GSIF 1.0 w/ Gigastudio 160,and Scope Pro. I betcha that Garyb will be more than happy to talk about GS3 after this week. Sorry bro'.

Jimmy, I didn't mean the dual CPU, but the part of Scope processing on the DSP card, which I assume is completely hidden from Giga.
Your idea is also worth considering

cheers, Tom

Sake and PlanetZ,
Not a good mix for discussion forums. Good to hear you my friend. My trip has onlt two nights left in Hawaii, and I'll be done. This GS3/Scope DP box will be mine as of 12/22. I will be contacting you for help you dastardly genius. I also am having a similar box being built for me stateside as we speak. 2 Project cards instead of DP/Pro. cards. But I'm sure it will suffice for my next gigs in LV. I misunderstood your comment due to excessive abuse. However, my bro' in San Francisco has similar problems with GS3 Orch. telling him absurd CPU cycles and the lot. Is this OS related? If so can you just ignore it like most of us do with the little bitty imperfections, and just jam on?
