In order to load a wav file into any of the STS samplers do the following:-

1. Right click on the empty 'Program' slot (in the 'Main' STS window)

2. Select 'New', and it will replace the empty slot with the words 'New Program' (This is your new program but it is still
empty at the moment)

3. Hightlight this 'New Program' by the 'KeyGroups' tab at bottom of Main window. (This will open a new STS window called 'KeyGroupList')

4. Right click in this window and select 'New'. (A green line will appear in the top of the window with some info on the left hand side. This is the first Keygroup. You can add more keygroups in order to set up different key ranges across the keyboard, etc, but for now just stick with this 1 keygroup)

5. Hightlight this green line by clicking it, and then click on the 'Options' tab at Bottom left of the KeyGroupList window. A new sub window will open below the KeyGroupList window, so make sure that 'Zones' tab is highlighted at the bottom of that window when it opens.

6. In this new window right click in the empty space next to No 1 and under the heading called 'Sample'

7. Select 'New Mono' or New Stereo' followed by 16bit, 24bit or 32bit depending on the format of the wav files you want to import.
A Windows style dialog box will open from where you can find the folder with the wav files you want to use

That is basically the main way to do it as far as I know. If there is an easier way, I would very much like to hear, so if anyone can help on this:) You can also drag wav files into the 'Zones' window from the SFP 'FileBrowser' or also from Windows Explorer, which is easier to do if you have the screen space.

Hope this helps. Its not the easiest of things to map up the STS samplers. Oh yes there is also a really cool set of utils available on this site which should help you, called STSUtilities by King Blue. They take alot of the pain out of doing large sample sets. You can download them here

one comment though...
in order to load a wav file you need to open the SFP file browser and then drag and drop the sample. "New mono" or "New stereo" is only used to create new samples from scratch.

ah yes..you are right. Sorry about that. That creates a new empty wav file which you then record to via the sample editor. It seems that you cannot record from the sample editor unless you have first created a new file, mono or stereo, 16 24 or 32 bit.

A very strange concept are those STS samplers, and definitely need updating
