Re: New SoC I Think I’ll Try

Have you looked at this range from asrock? http://www.asrockrack.com/general/produ ... ifications

I'd love to know how they perform for audio work with Xite-1. Obviously different price range!

Re: Xite-1 communication error/ hardware caonnot be setup properly

I get this periodically too. Generally a series of unplugging everything and plugging it back in, plus some reboots seems to do the job eventually. When it doesn't, I've had to reseat the pci-e card. It's a little bit worrying when it happens though and seems to be when I come back after not having ...

Re: v7 drivers (64bit)

Amazing efforts here! I'm super impressed by a) the dedication to get to an answer and b) the tech sleuthing. Fingers crossed it leads to an even more stable Scope. P.S. I have been able to BSOD using the Juce VST Demo Host using ASIO in the past, which was probably my bad code, but could have been ...

Windows 10 midi device install notes

Just thought I'd list these solutions that I found for getting things going in Windows 10 (I'm running Pro 64bit) here in case it helps anyone else: Behringer BCR2000 - didn't work in BC Manager (and generally) until I plugged it directly into one of my PC's USB ports, rather than via a USB hub. I u...

Re: OSC Receiver and Sender

Most of the DAWs have good OSC support now. To answer your question from above, I wouldn't recommend for very timing critical needs, but it should work very well for parameter automation. Unfortunately there's always some level of delay due to scope's async implementation, but it's fairly small (a f...

Re: OSC Receiver and Sender

Hi JoPo, This definitely isn't the thread for you if you're not using the SDK! faxinadu has integrated these modules into some devices that he announced elsewhere in the forum and I'm beavering away in the background to hook them into the updated version of ScopeSync that's been a couple of years in...

Re: Soundcloud lowers audio quality to half

This is an another fair article: http://www.factmag.com/2018/01/05/what-is-opus-audio/ which mentions an important fact, i.e. mp3 is 20 years older than opus. When you think about what's happened with video codecs in that time, it's no wonder there's better available. Checked out the opus page. I wo...

Re: Soundcloud lowers audio quality to half

My comparison from 'pro' features is vimeo, not because they're the same market but because vimeo has been able to carve out a niche alongside youtube, and they cost about 1/3 of what SC charges for 'pro' features...and the backend costs and datarates (bandwidth) are MUCH MUCH higher for vimeo Inte...

Re: Soundcloud lowers audio quality to half

And unlike previous generations higher-sound-quality was apparently not a main goal as it took a backseat to the convenience of computer-music, loudness war, dirty vintage-emulations, and mp3 players while CD sales declined and DVD-A/Blu-ray/etc music never really took off. Are you referring to con...

Re: Soundcloud lowers audio quality to half

P.S. The benefits of higher efficiency encoding are all for users: faster time to start playing, store more content on your mobile device, reduced bandwidth usage for your mobile contract, smaller cache required to avoid network issues. We still store original formats plus other encodings, so it doe...

When I'm not tinkering with Scope, my day job is as a VP Engineering at SoundCloud 😁 One of my teams happens to be responsible for Media Streaming. It's a bit sad that these ill-informed tweets get so much broadcasting and amplification. I can't comment too much for confidentiality reasons, but the ...

Re: OSC Receiver and Sender

Now reads listener port from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\ScopeOSCReceiver\ScopeOSC.settings (or equivalent for different versions of Windows). File is created on first load of OSCReceiver module and will only be re-read at startup, so changing setting will require Scope to be restarted. I'm assumin...

Re: OSC Receiver and Sender

Good to know!

The only further change I have planned before looking into integrating these into ScopeSync is to load a config for listening port from a file. If there are any other needs that people have (or bugs!), please feel free to raise them here: https://github.com/bcmodular/scopeosc/issues
