PCI Capacity Limit Reached - loggable?
Does anyone know if there's a way to automatically log the time ( or anything ) when I get the "PCI Capacity Limit Reached" message? I'd like to find out what process is happening on my computer when that happens. I've already done the things in the manual, and deleted the shared USB contr...

Re: background noise
By Golly,
I looked at my old nVidia motherboard, and some of the holes DO have traces. Big ones, that go to the stuff on the back panel, like the mouse, keyboard, audio, etc.

Re: background noise
I haven't looked, but I would think that motherboards may ground to the chassis via the connectors that either go to the power supply, or to the switches.
I always thought the mounting holes on a motherboard didn't have traces to anything.
Maybe there's an ieee standard or something that tells it.

Re: Need to wiggle card in slot before samplerate will show
Wow,
My Scope card has been running solidly since doing that.
It gave me trouble for a long time.

Re: background noise
Hey greenbluegold, how should I test my card's analog s/n ratio, so I can compare to yours?
I'm not sure how to route the modules for it, and the first app I tried crashes.

Re: background noise
OK. Right now I'm running my Scope card as master, with the spdif coax going to my Korg card on another computer. I specify the Korg spdif to be the slave, or it won't work. ( unless I do it the other way around, korg master, scope slave. ) One cable or two, spdif dest or both. And the red led light...

Re: background noise
I believe usually, or always, you have to specify one card to be the master/sender, other one to be slave/receiver of the digital sync signal. And you should get a red led shining next to the one you selected on the menu, when it syncs with the other card. I was wondering about using both spdif and ...

Re: background noise
I would think that a Scope card with something wrong with the ADAT electronics, would give you an error message. You could email support about that. I had a problem with my Power Pulsar card, and you can see my post on this forum. It's not like your problem, but I straightened out the mildly-arched ...

Re: background noise
I don't think grounding is your problem, since your other cards don't give the problem. But, to find out if it's really the scope card, you should unhook everything else and look at the scope-mixer's led's, not Cubase's. Listen from the Scope analog-out, not something else. Don't have any other soft...

Re: background noise
It would be easy to select all Scope devices in the Windows control panel, and see if the noise stops. You might check using the analog dest, too. Sounds like your noise is from the computer's i/o bus's, and the Soundblaster's one thing that uses it. You could try the volume sliders of the Soundblas...

Re: background noise
I wonder if some setting in the Windows Sounds and Audio devices of Control Panel could be putting some noise into the analog source.

Re: background noise
I think I had that problem once. I've had three or four scope cards pass through, and you're not supposed to get computer noise from the analog. One easy thing to do, if you haven't, is to go to the LiveBar's menu, open the routing window, and disconnect or remove all the modules except the mixer an...

Re: background noise
If I boost the analog's input channel and the mixer output channel, then there's some noise; if I boost them all the way up, to 12.0, then there are 4 LED's lighting up, and clearly some noise. With the input channel all the way up, and the mixer outs on 0.0, though, I don't hear any sound. Do you g...

Re: background noise
On mine there's no noise from the analog in - dead quiet.
But the mixer's bottom-most LED is lit on that channel. If I mute it, the LED at the mixer's output turns off.
My card is an older power Pulsar.
I do have the analog cable connected.

Re: Need to wiggle card in slot before samplerate will show
Hmmm... It seems to be better, so far! What I did: The bracket that screws on to the computer chassis was a little bent along its length, so I straightened it. That may may have been causing a minor seating disagreement, but it didn't look like it. And, I got a can of compressed air, took off the I/...

Need to wiggle card in slot before samplerate will show
Cleaning the contacts and trying another slot aren't the problem. It does it in any slot, and my other card works fine in the same slots. The contacts have been cleaned, and it's been to Sonic Core for repair before. Usually, when I start the computer, the card starts up with the samplerate window b...
