Re: I'm homeless
Well, I won't pretend that I can understand what kind of pain and ugliness you have gone through, Bingo, but you have my sympathy. In the unlikely (but never-say-never) scenario of you being in the 'maritime' provinces of Canada, I would be more than happy to help you stabilize your life and get bac...

Re: Anything wrong with this setup?
!sob! I can't believe I just hit "Yes, charge me for all this gear". Oh well, look at the bright side, a nice new PC that's more powerful than the current one. My computer screen just went black, and I tried rebooting to no avail. Removed all the music cards, tried replacing the video card...

Once More
Downturn in the economy resulted in cancelling or waiting to order the new computer. Motherboard failure resulted in cancelling the cancellation.. Right now I have a list of parts that seem to work together, but now I can't get a Intel DP35DP motherboard, so I went with the A5Q, apparently that is i...

Re: God is not great: How religion poisons everthing
What I mean GaryB is there is no 'hermetic carrot' - people learn because it is a natural human thing to do, to be interested in why things are the way they are, not just because it will benefit them, but because they are interested. You're referring to hermetic, i.e. obscure, esoteric knowledge and...

Re: God is not great: How religion poisons everthing
"i would scoff harder at the Hermetic carrot they always hold up to the intelligent" This is confusing. Do you claim your statements are not full of intelligence? Why would you say them otherwise? I think you are an intelligent person even if I disagree in some ways. Don't take me calling ...

This thread was about to be thrown onto the cart, and it cried out "I'm not dead yet!"
Interesting and thoughtful post, Red Muze.
I hope Hubird is keeping on eye on this to see the thread finally get to 50 pages, after all this time. I am quietly proud.

Re: Vocodizer
Try the "Power Brass" patch on the Minimoog. As for audio input, I have yet to find an input that sounds as good as Audio Technica Pro-3x (cheapie mike) plugged directly into the input of the Noah. (And I've tried SM57s, 58s, various condenser mikes)

Re: Making the world a better place
i just think all this intellectualization is just masturbation. When rational thought is able to defend your theories, then it's "facts that can't be changed". When it doesn't, then the whole process of logical thinking is thrown out because it is too limited to describe the supernatural,...

Re: Making the world a better place
You would be willing to be less tolerant if it meant less nihilism? I find that a puzzling thought. It's not like tolerance by definition leads to nihilism - tolerance implies not tolerating some things (like intolerance). So the very word speaks of a set of complicated realities, like to speak of s...

Re: Anything wrong with this setup?
Thanks everybody for your input. I'm trying to figure out how to determine if the memory chips are 1.8v or not. I don't see those attributes listed anywheres. I am trying to order all the parts from tigerdirect.ca for simplicity's sake - I program computers all day, and I don't really want to mess a...

Re: Anything wrong with this setup?
"you'll likely have to disable a controller or two to have the needed free irqs" You mean the firewire, onboard audio, that sort of thing? My biggest concern is that the new setup should be able to house a Creamware Pulsar II as well as a UAD-1 card. And I plan to get another Pulsar II soo...

Re: Dynamixer Expanded & Renamed
This is just my personal opinion and experiences but : I never use the Dynamixer, I would like to but it constantly causes these kinds of problems, and I only get them to work again by de-allocating and re-allocating them. I use micromixers instead, I miss the built in insert slots (that save on scr...

Re: because i get tired of hearing about "conspiracy theories"
Sorry, I can't imagine how you can interpret that paragraph to read that he intends to form a secret cabal to control the earth. Basically he's saying, some accuse me of trying to form a secret society, and all I want to do is build an economic structure. Regardless of the merits of such a structure...

My son's called Len, Liquid. Got any yourself? :) Just the sponsored children at this point (I consider the many strange people who I have met, befriended, and often helped out, kind of an extended family). I just don't understand this bit about having children that is selfish / not selfish. Some o...
