My first attempt at mixing the two genres. Hope you like it.

Re: Vinyl drum loop effects
I really like that video you did chisel, I've only made beats sound vinylised (? is there such a word) but I love the idea of creating a whole piece of music to chop up like a funk sample. Excellent :) Thanks for the kind words. Since I made those beats, I discovered a free VST called Wow & Flu...

Re: Vinyl drum loop effects
Nice rig there mate. And not quantizing is a great idea too. What kind of metronome do you use, or is it a click? Thanks. I use the metronome that is built into Ableton Live. I developed a template that has all the tracks, routing, and effects setup so I can get right to the composing. The best par...

Re: Vinyl drum loop effects
Thanks for all the great replies! I finally found my workflow for making what I call a "faux-sampled beat". Please check out the link below for some examples. This is so much fun!

Vinyl drum loop effects
I have Jamstix 2 for producing incredibly realistic drum loops and now I need to find some effects to make the loops sound as if they were lifted from a vinyl recording. I've messed around with Izotope's Vinyl and Ableton Live's Vinyl effect. I'm wondering if anyone here can suggest some nice Scope ...

"Patchname to Program Change" MIDI device
I use Ableton Live 8 and the one feature that I wish it had was some type of patchname script like Cubase and Logic support. I use the external instrument device to send MIDI to and receive audio from my hardware devices. Then it got me thinking, all I need is a MIDI device that would map patch name...

Resetting MIDI ports in XTC mode
I originally posted this question in the Problem Solving forum, but since I discovered that it's related to XTC mode, I wanted to post it here also. When I start Ableton Live, my MIDI ports aren't functional until I reset them by deselecting and reselecting them in the preferences screen. When I fir...

Re: Two minor annoying issues
I've never experienced any of this in Live... I did a bit of troubleshooting and it appears that the noise burst only happens when I have my Behringer ADA8000s turned on before I launch Live. It probably has to do with the clock sync. Since I'm using XTC mode, Scope doesn't initialize until I launc...

Two minor annoying issues
My workflow with Ableton Live + Scope has been fantastic aside from two very minor yet annoying issues. I'd be forever grateful to anyone that has insight into these annoyances. BTW, I use XTC mode. 1) When I start Live, my MIDI ports aren't functional until I reset them by deselecting and reselecti...

Re: 80s Joy Ride (chisel316 mix)
You have a good ear! The pad is actually a synth layered with a string patch from my XV-5080. I don't remember the exact sound off the top of my head, but I remember using a string ensemble to fill out the sound.

80s Joy Ride (chisel316 mix)
I invite all of you to listen to my latest trance tune at http://www.soundclick.com/chisel316. It's called 80s Joy Ride (chisel316 mix) . My friend, SurfaceX, sent me the guitar track from his song 80s Joy Ride and I wrote a trance song around it. It was a lot of fun composing a song around a guitar...

Re: Optimaster as VintageWarmer
Thanks you, Mark. That is exactly the type of answer I was hoping to receive. I haven't experimented with side-chaining on the Optimaster or running two of them in parallel. I'll have to read the manual and start experimenting with the settings instead of just dialing up a preset. Peace \/ chisel316

Optimaster as VintageWarmer
I admit to using presets in Optimaster. Once I have my song at about -3dB, I slap the Optimaster on the main mix to add extra over-all volume. I've heard great things about PSP's VintageWarmer and was wondering with the proper settings if Optimaster can produce the same results.
Thanks,

Re: Another thread about summing in scope
I just stumbled upon this thread and found it quite an interesting read. I performed a less technical test for my own ears when I was first setting up Live/XTC years ago. I took a simple song with about a half dozen tracks and summed it in Live and again in Scope. I use switchit devices in my XTC pr...

MIDI routing question
I have a general MIDI setup question. I've always been fortunate enough to have a MIDI patch bay with 128 presets. All of my MIDI devices are plugged into the patch bay. My main preset is: controller->sequencer->all outboard devices. When I need to record automation from a particular device, I switc...

Re: KickMe Too!
Hi chisel, I checked it this morning and yes it works for me in XTC mode with SX3 and scope 4.5. I copied a synth dll and named it exactly like the dev. Dont forget the exclamation mark. Thanks, stardust. After I read your response, I went back and figured out the configuration issue that was preve...

Re: Looking for beta tester for my 2nd synth plug
I know it's kinda late, but I'd love to try out your plugin with my X-Station. I use the X-Station as my primary controller. I already have presets for Minimax, Pro-12, and B2003. Although these days, I set up MIDI control through Live instead because Scope gave me all sorts of issues with loading p...
