Re: how to make the ultimate solo

haha, glad you found it interesting. Notice this is just introducing some of the more mundane "formulas" in coming up with lines to play or organizing your lines. These are considered elementary and people who put in effort to climb the ladder quickly graduate to more advanced concepts. So...

Re: OS20 Modular Sequence

I think the mix sounds ok. It sounds very clean to me, and well balanced. IMHO, I think what it's lacking is probably a bad attitude, like it makes me want to drag it into the dark side a bit. Give it a bit of poison, and a very inappropriate tattoo. Especially the drums. I love the lead sound thoug...

Re: corn song test vocal take

Yes, counting on melodyne to do the job at the final recording. I sent notation ahead of time for the take for the last song and the studio fixed up pretty good last time. (strange thing to hold as a reassurance... lol) Yes, the music is a bit strange. Definitely not the mainstream fare. It's a bit ...

corn song test vocal take

Project is inching forward, got a test take for the lead vocals with the girl. Now that I have some material, went ahead and added in chorus parts with rather brutal autotune. I think I like the chorus lines than the main melody now. Always much easier to come up with lines while hearing the singer'...

Re: Very interesting flamenco work

wow, is this the third set or something? The amount of sweat even before playing is amazing. This is really nice, you can hear the person, the instrument, and the musicianship. Many times you don't have all these elements, and the performance becomes not that much different from a recording session,...

Re: Letter From Fairlight 1982

I think many times the importance is in the presented paradigm, rather than the sheer amount of required computing. I had a similar experience while studying graph (like nodes and edges graphs, not graphs as in graphs and charts).. The computations are not very scalable, but not super difficult.. bu...

Re: Letter From Fairlight 1982

that's a kick ass demo. It's a huge undertaking really, they were trying to present a whole new way of producing music. And what we have now is still somewhat part of that roadmap.

Re: Selling corns this time

I concentrated on wanting to sell corn, and then the song appeared on my hard disk. Hopefully the recording in June goes well. It only takes some mediocre vocals to eff any song up.

Selling corns this time

Last year I wrote a song to sell strawberries. This year, the same crew's getting set to sell some summer corns. (coincidentally, I wrote a tune called summer corns last year) The comping track's ready for a test recordings for vocals toward end of May, and a proper session sometime during June, to ...

Re: Some REALLY, I mean... REALLY SUPERB FREE PLUGINS

Oh yeah, Variety of Sounds. Their package is great. I think I have all of them. I don't know too much details about the developer, but I like how their stuff sounds and operates. To me, their stuff isn't generically useful, as in they're not in my go to pile for generic fixes. Feels like their plugi...

Re: Music notation today?

imho, that world is owned by Sibelius. But depends on your needs I think. I only hand out sheet notation if specifically requested, and usually for just a single part, so Sibelius is way overkill for me. I use MuseScore, since I like the way note input works, and also handles lyrics quite well. Not ...

Re: Does anyone else maintain a STEMBASE ?

I've chosen a particular version of Reaper and stopped updating it.. and I keep all my projects around. Not actual stems, but projects always load so hasn't been a problem for me so far. Only have been doing it for a few years though, so not sure how it'd hold up after, say, 15 years.. I'm not sure ...

I think you'd benefit from Flexor modules regardless. I haven't been active in the modular community for a while, but worth checking them out. Very good pool of knowledgable mod users here on Z.
