What I want from CreamWare. Simple things (perhaps): 1. A replacement for the VRC designed to work with the Alesis HD24. HD24 users have been crying for the promised "Director," the BRC replacement for some time time now. Perhaps an opportunity for CreamWare. 2. Shift-click selection of VD...

hi Legros and BraceletZ, Thanks for the listen. Legros: Ian McCarthy has come up with an organ part which may add some variation musically. I hope we'll have a remix fairly soon. BraceletZ: Do you mean the vocals should be further back in the mix or that the vocals should stand out more? As for a 'v...

I can't edit the first message, and for some reason, only the Pulsar Mixer is showing under "Uses." I also used (on Scope 3.1 and 4.0): Celmo X Machine, PsyQ, SPL Transient Designer, VDAT and Vinco. I also used analog gear, and tracked to an Alesis HD24 using a True Precision 8 pre-amp.

Try Stabilant 22. Here's the U.S distributor:
http://www.posthorn.com/Stab_2.html and they have a link to the manufacturer.

It was originally developed for the Polaris Missile program, and at one time was re-packaged and sold to audiophiles as, "Tweek." It really does seem to work.

best,

Thanks Marcuspocus, I do have a SyncPlate in each computer. I originally posted my question on the HD24 group on Yahoo, and I described rather than named. I have made some progress with the BRC controlling both Record and Play by clocking the VDAT to the Ext ADAT 9-pin instead of the BNC. Not perfec...

I have an Alesis HD24, and two computers each with a CreamWare Scope system with the VDAT. And I also have an Alesis BRC (v 2.04). Each of the CreamWare systems has a clock I/O card which also has the 9-pin ADAT I/O. I have an external clock - the Drawmer M-Clock which has lots of clock outputs but ...

hi Celmo,

How about putting together some packages of your devices for sale. The U.S. is having a little, uh, cash-flow problem these days, and bargains are always welcome. You could group some of your older devices or let consumers take a small discount for buying several Celmo devices at once.

Old reliable is an Intel 875 board with lots of the best CAS 2 RAM you can afford. Use 10k RPM Western Digital SATA for primary recording and 7200 RPM drive for your C drive and additional recording. Research Pentium 4 cooling issues and if you need to save somewhere, buy the second or third from th...

hi chris, This topic will probably be moved to Tech Talk, but I'll reply here. The next computer I hope to build will use the Pentium M chip which now uses socket 479. Based in part on the P III, the 'Dothan' cpu allows fanless or low-volume-fan operation. Right now the chip is using a mid-800s Inte...

hi Wolfgang, Operating on the theory that the least processing is the best sounding processing, I connected the Pulsar II Analog In to the in of your phono pre-amp. I set its input gain at '0.' I set the output gain of the phono pre-amp to '0' then connected the phono pre-amp's out to the Pulsar II ...

As shipped, the phono pre-amp is set with a hot output (+3) and a superhot input. I tried it and it took awhile to get it sounding right. As the device unpacks now, I give it a '9.' Set both the input and output gains of the phono pre-amp to zero. That gets closer to '10.' Connect the phono pre-amp ...

Good discussion! Tom, you said, "Immanuel is right, the impedance of the input stage is a hardware property and out of software control." Yes that is true. But the result of the loading mismatch should only (audibly) impact the frequency response. Therefore it should be correctable at any ...

Thank you Wolfgang, This could be the 'killer app' as far as getting some people attracted to Scope. I think, though, that there are a lot more moving magnet cartridges than moving coil. A moving coil usually likes to see a low-impedence load, so a microphone pre-amp providing a load of 2,000 ohms s...

Sorry for any misunderstanding. The 24 dB per octave slopes I was referring to in the case of the DBX DriveRack had the overlap because the crossover point for each band was set independently. For example, say the top of sub-woofer curve was down -n dB at 500 Hz. The overlap would come from setting ...

I just wanted to interrupt the escalation of the slope-steepness contest  to share an experience. I had the chance to use an older model Ashley analog crossover which has a variable slope control (0 to 12 dB). The best sound I could dial in used slopes closer to 6 dB per octave than to 12 dB....

hi Stige,

About that adjective, "very" when referring to the bugs in VDAT - I respectfully disagree. While VDAT does have some issues, none of them seem to interfere with the core function of the program, i.e. recording. Fortunately, VDAT does that particular task admirably.
