Re: Upgrading to v5 - is it worth it?
I tried pointing the device browser to the new version of the plugin which ships with v5, but that didn't seem to work, hence installing the older versions of the plugin. Haven't had time to send a formal support request to sonic-core, but if no one else is having this problem, then I should probabl...

Re: Upgrading to v5 - is it worth it?
couldn't have been more from scratch. Fresh OS, fresh scope 5 install (no upgrade), etc. The only thing that couldve been a carryover was an attempt to get my older warp verbs to load so I could get my settings.

Re: Upgrading to v5 - is it worth it?
The problems I have with older projects is that it will go through this cycle of opening a plugin and then going to the card registration process, it will ask me for my keyfile, I point it in the right direction, it tells me everything was a success, and then I get a blank workspace with no devices ...

Re: Upgrading to v5 - is it worth it?
I found that I couldn't successfully import my older projects, but the ones I've started to rebuild are a lot more stable. I used to get crashes when trying to load midi controller assignment presets I laboriously made. All that went away. Don't know if was Scope 3.5, WinXP or what, but Scope v5 on ...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
Yay!!! Consensus! The only thing I'd add is that the cyclical problem you and Tom speak of is not as much a conspiracy as it is sometimes portrayed as (though, don't get me wrong, there's plenty of collusion), but it's usually a matter of practical constraints. In the same vein, I could probably mak...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
If you call 32 'very young' then I'll take it. I hope I don't come off as a brat who doesn't know how far things have come. My Dad brought home the IBM 8086 when I was five and have owned a computer that has been powered by just about every major processor out there except AMDs K6. Right now I have ...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
The topic is discussed in a way suggesting exactly THAT - you can't do anything useful without 64bit, the new standard etc bla bla My only point is THINK about it ;) Well I certainly appreciate your perspective on it. I personally couldn't give to flaming craps about 64bit or 32 or 192, or whatever...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
if you can afford a full Adobe Creative Suite, it should be easy for you to treat Scope as an external mixer-processor in a 2nd box (in case you have a serious need for Scope specific processing)... But this is the only reasonable business decision in this context. Period. Why would you assume that...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
To argue with Hollywood needs is a bit cheap - who of us is in charge in that domain ? Most folks just record their bands, their compositions... ..you mean besides Hans Zimmer? Remember how Sonic-Core is positioned, and has positioned itself. To be a piece of high-end, uncompromising gear. T...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
they don't need more than say 128 MB of memory to perform their job. That's why I consider 1-12 GB sample sets not only sick but also a naive surrender to marketing I think this is where your argument breaks down. First off, the sample libraries tend to be huge because there are a variety of instru...

Re: SCOPE 64 Bit beta..........?
...I suppose. But being able to load the entirety of a BFD2 kit into memory and still have LOTS of RAM left is appealing. ESPECIALLY if you want to do the same thing with Ivory or a similar plug. I used to have a K2500. It's pianos were nice, but not as realistic-sounding as a plug like Ivory. In a ...

Re: SCOPE XITE-1 is shipping!
This is GREAT news, congratulations!!
One curiosity though.... You mentioned it will ship initially with XP and Vista support. Any estimate on when OS X support will be ready? I am really looking forward to ditching Windows for audio use.

Re: Write here your Favorite Mic Preamps for Vocals
I'm not sure why everyone is always so gaga for the Avalons. They do sound buttery one track at a time, but mixing a couple tracks together that came from the Avalon reduce to mud pretty quickly. I usually like to use tube mics with solid state pre's. The beauty I'm saving up for right now is this b...

Re: Condenser mic single diaphram / dual diaphram
My fav mics of all time are my Rode NTK, and a Baby Bottle. They are both super versatile and sound great. The NTK is a little more saturated and rich sounding, where the baby bottle is more precise. But they are both mid-range mics and can be used on anything from vocals, acoustics, as room mics, s...

Re: question about xcite pci-e
Lets not forget that the new Scope software (when ready) will be backwards compatible. So you can just set up a machine with 3 Scope Professional cards (which will likely be cheap on eBay) once the XITE hits the street. Problem Solved!

Re: Info from NAMM regarding XITE, Scope 5 and Solaris
I assume the 96k hardware version cannot be mimicked by the software, as I have both. What's the action on the keys, Jimmy? Are they weighted or the standard plasticky fare? Sam weighted keys would be most untraditional for a true synthesizer. organs don't have weighted keys... No, but they should ...
