Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

The soundcloud demos are so generic. I guess I have to try it out at the store before judging it. Still, I like to make my own samples.

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

I'm considering it but want to wait for the rack-mount version. I wonder why it's only 16 bit? Maybe the filters make that irrelevant. I like that you will be able to import samples in December but if it's only 16 bit you can import, I would rather make my own samples and mangle them with an H9000.

It depends on what you're doing with it. I believe 96KHz will be the new standard.

Re: 96 KHz

Folks, you there using 96 KHz, if you were to give a percentage about the subjective perception of the sound achieved, what would you say? I will be clearer with a precise question: How much better to your ears do you think the jump between 48 and 96 is? Is it 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%? Try to be as preci...

I would think if you're using a virtual sampler with custom samples it would nee more RAM.

Re: 96 KHz

That is good to know. I'm switching over to Dante with the Focusrite Rednet PCIe Dante card. I believe this will give me the lowest latency. It should give me better performance at 96 KHz if I'm not mistaken. I might even be able to keep my old computer with that. I'll test it out with a bunch of hi...

96 KHz

Anyone in here use 96 KHz as your standard sample rate?
How many tracks can you get with plugins?
What CPU are you using?

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?

I think you will be very happy with both of those. MPE seems to be gaining some traction esp now that it's officially supported by the midi assoc. Just for your info the Linn 128 fits snugly into an averaged sized computer backpack with a 15' laptop and other junk. heavy, but do-able. That config w...

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?

The Linnstrument you can buy a whole new rubber surface if it gets damaged $69 for the large. Support is top-notch. (so i've heard, no probs with mine) Def make an effort to try one before you buy other. :) Okay I am getting the smaller Linnstrument and the Touche! I tried the Touche today and even...

Re: Piano: THIS IS IT!

Looks like I had rewards points I didn't know about on that site and I still have $39 left! I shy away from Kontakt because the quality just doesn't seem to be as good as in some of the other software I have. I think maybe Kontakt is designed to use less CPU power. For drums i never use Kontakt. I d...

Re: Piano: THIS IS IT!

Actually I just picked up their Resonance - Emotional Mallets Kontakt library for $20 over at audio plugin deals. 2.6GB of bowed, hit, scraped metal stuff for fifteen quid is a sore dick deal. Thanks for the tip! I went to the site and although the price is $20, when I applied the code, I was charg...

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?

Yesterday I almost bought the floor model of the Seaboard Grand Stage which was on sale at hundreds off. After a little while I noticed it had a cut in the skin of one key which someone tried to make less apparent by inking it. That ruined that key in my opinion because it's no longer smooth sliding...

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?

I noticed that too and I am 100% sure that this was paid product placement as were all the Toyota Prius cars. That ticked me off about the movie also it was highly-overrated. btw, just realized the Seaboard keyboard was super mega featured in La La Land. The product placement couldn't have been more...

Sure, I'm tempted to get both now! The Roli Seaboard has a breast-like quality to it which is comforting in a primal way. :)

Re: Seaboard or Linnstrument?

All good points. I have tried the Seaboard briefly and loved it but have not tried the Linnstrument. I'm a little worried about the learning curve for the Linnstrument but strongly considering it.

Seaboard or Linnstrument?

I am lucky to have some extra money soon. Which would you prefer, the Seaboard or the Linnstrument? I will probably not get the Seaboard block or grand. The Seaboard seems easier to learn but the LInnstrument has more features.

Re: Focusrite Rednet AM2 (Dante networking)

Also I just got this email. It's not a good choice for your hardware because it's only two connections but I could use this to connect my preamps to Dante. Pretty cool. "Network Everything with the New Dante AVIO Adapter Family Dante AVIO™ are cost-effective endpoint adapters that enable audio ...
