Re: Phase issues

If you don't understand it perhaps working inside a daw with just vsts will have better result. (1) bass audio sample (2) drums audio sample I mix the bass and drums together and i get (3) bass+drums audio sample now if i send audio(3) -> mixer channel A audio(2) -> compressor -> mixer channel B an...

Re: Phase issues

"Phasefix-x" Phasefix-x sucks because you have to measure the latency (it is not constant it depends on which dsp the device gets loaded and the communication channels to reach the mixer) and then manualy set the delay time. This gets in the way of working because you have to do it and re...

Re: Phase issues

Custom assigning of the DSP's. (is the solution) It is caused when a new device module causes reassignment of devices on the fly. Luckily most users are amateurs to notice and it keeps going for 20 years ----------------------- That’s exactly when it happens. I thought it might be the dsp. Is there...

Haha thanks Gary. So it’s part of the party then? No such thing as being completely stable no?

Phase issues

After running my DAW and Scope for a while I’ve notice there’s a slight sample delay occurring. I’ve put a mono software sine wave from the DAW passing through each of the L and R ASIO channels into scope with one going back to its ASIO in while the other passes through a scope mixer. It’s phase coh...

Re: Graphics card tweaks

The main tweak is to replace Nvidia with AMD. Nvidia's drivers think that apart from the video card there is nothing more important in the computer and occupy the bus for a long time. The overall latency of the system increases, the processor does not have time to fill the audio buffer and the comp...

Re: Graphics card tweaks

In general this isn't much of an issue now. Even Intel's native GPU drivers give openGL accell needed for many plugins (Waves for instance), and many devs used frameworks like JUCE that will have several codepaths they can use depending on what API's they find available when launching in a given DA...

Graphics card tweaks

Are there and graphic card specific tweaks that improve audio playback and performance of plugins which don’t interfere when scrolling with the mouse in particular? I know some plugins perform better without graphics acceleration but are there any more we should know about, like 3D, open gl settings...

Optimaster crossovers

Are the crossovers flat in optimaster or is there a slight bump at the passbands?

Thanks

Yes I've tried analysing it with GOST and it shows sine wave amplitude modulation clearly at high frequencies unless sidebands are creating that. I'm not sure, maybe you experts could say.

Re: Sine Wave test

Can only guess since I don't know neither what you use to generate or analyze the sine wave. But generally, unless the oscilloscope applies a sinc function, high frequencies will become jagged since unlike the output from the DAC which has sinc applied, it will just draw a straight line between sam...

Re: Sine Wave test

does the music sound bad? Not bad Gary but I've been testing it for an hour or so and at 96kHz the Highs and Lows are much cleaner and crispier. Pulsar is stunning in its quality still. It's a shame 3 PCI's cant run 96kHz smoothly for me but my system is old. I will upgrade to my MSI and see if it ...

Here's some pics that show you what I mean:

I tried it at 96kHz and it explains it's a samplerate problem.

Sine Wave test

Hi guys I've just conducted a test with sine waves at different frequencies and found something interesting with the vst oscilloscope At High frequencies, around 10kHz and above there seems to be extreme amplitude modulation with the frequency in question. There also seems to be errors in the smooth...

DAW - ASiO and Scope/Pulsar outputs

Hi guys I was wondering about the audio signal and what happens when it reaches the analogue output of the sound card. Ok so DAW’s are 32 bit floating point but what happens with the different Scope ASIO modules we choose from? Obviously the scope float keeps the integrity but what happens when it i...

No, I have no idea how to do it, and I have not a multimeter either at hand. Is it difficult to handle?
