John, you might want to just run the script that updates the 'last post' column in the topics list. For example, the topic 'Is Sonic Core still alive' says I am the last contributor, but when you go into the topic, AuntyBiotic made a post after I did. I did the "resynchronize post counts"...

This morning, there was a database corruption for the forums that required a restore from backup.
I don't think any posts or topics were lost, but it's possible some private messages sent in the last few hours may have been lost.
Let me know if you see anything amiss.

I don't think typical communications are https on boards like this. So you're always vulnerable :) That's essentially correct. phpbb doesn't use https, so passwords, etc are sent in the clear instead of encrypted. Of course the password is stored encrypted in the phpbb database. But anyone snooping...

Thanks for the kind offer and suggestions. I don't love Paypal either, but it seems to be the easiest way to send money... My bank charges exorbitant fees for wire transfers :( I've never felt comfortable with the idea of a subscription model. I hate the google adsense ads- maybe I'll disable those....

Still working on it. I've just changed all the spambot countermeasures, so hopefully we'll be ok for awhile.
Until they figure it out, and we get another invasion...

I don't know what's up with these guys. Ridiculous...
Despite all the various question/answer countermeasures, they still manage to get through.
I'll temporarily change it to require administrator approval for every new user- and see how that goes.
