Re: Computer installation

Ah I was installing Windows 7 64 bit on this install - maybe this has something to do with it

I've done one or two Win 10 installs but mainly Win 7 at the moment - I think some files get overwritten.

You mention AOMEI for backup - I've not heard of this I'll look it up

Re: Computer installation

OK-just to elaborate on this. As the number of system builds grows so do the experiences of those installations. What I've found over a number of the builds is that once all the drivers are on and some basic apps are installed it is still quite bare bones install eg no Scope or other DAW software. F...

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

Yes it's all a big hassle when it goes wrong - I've had a big problem myself today - with a slave build - where I can't get windows to install or even get the BIOS to post before windows is installed. I thought it could be a short circuit - motherboard is Gigabyte SOC Champion - I'll try another boa...

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

Well yes it would have me a bit worried as I have one too - but I'd use the 8600 K - Would you try the 8700 K in another board? - just to see if it works? - How much was the board used with the 8700 K before there was a problem? - And how did the problem occur - eg - no bootup? - or was the computer...

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

I hate computer issues. Did you have the "best" most suitable BIOS for the 8700 K? Have you tried "turbo mode" = OFF - (worth a try)- example-AMD FX9590 (derived from FX8350) only worked with turbo mode off https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/TUF-H310-PLUS-GAMING/HelpDesk_CPU/ B...

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

Hello Micmac, Sorry to hear the CPU is damaged - are you sure the board didn't cause this? -I don't see why it should but it is a 6 core CPU on a very low end motherboard (I've got one)and I'll try it out soon with the i5 8600 K. Did you put enough thermal paste on the CPU? = The 8700 K is a powerfu...

Computer installation

Hi, Just thought I'd leave something here in the form of tips for when installation goes wrong. I don't really need to write this but it could be useful for someone who like me is not a computer genius - :) So, I've been putting operating systems on a disk or two for basic installations of Scope or ...

Re: Z170 build with 7700 K

There are lots of good PSU's - Cooler Master - Corsair - Thermal Take - Try to get a fully modular one - meaning the power cables dis-connect 100% from the PSU. Having Scope you shouldn like fully modular - ! Or you get a semi-modular where the 24 pin ATX power & 8 pin CPU power connector are co...

Re: Z170 build with 7700 K

I've not used the MSI Z170A Gaming m3 with Scope yet - Just a basic build where I think the system is OK - But it's only when it's used properly do you really know - MSI support the 7700 K with BIOS update version - but Microsoft do not - for example the 7700 K worked to install the OS straight away...

Re: Z170 build with 7700 K

Yes it's a good board - I've got a few sytems on the test bench to set them up - So I get confused which board we're talking about - this is the MSI Z170 A M3 GAMING ??? - with an i7 7700 K correct? - you bought this??? If you are using this board don't try to install Realtek audio & Nahimic on ...

Re: Asus Crossblade Ranger

Yeah OK I get your point. I've done enough tests and have done away with this aspect - many users on various boards have some problem with this - I tried on Windows 10 as well with NO RESULT so conclude Asus hadn't tested enough on this board - I could be wrong but it is Asus who make the board etc....

Asus Crossblade Ranger

Hi, AMD socket FM2+ - Asus Crossblade Ranger - A problem with AI Suite III - dip4.dll (error) Most of the APP works - but part of it does not - I'm a bit miffed with this as it's an ROG board (lowest level) - built really well for a lower end motherboard. Right now I've just gone with a basic instal...

Re: Scope PCI & Xite

Oh that is good news...... I'll check out the link you provided - but how easy is this to do? - Is it just a simple install? - What I'm asking is, is there any digging around the registry or file systems perfoming all sorts of crazy things just to get it to work? - I hope not. If it's EZ then this w...

Re: Scope PCI & Xite

Oh thanks for the info

I've got Win 7 SP 1 - Is this OK for the PAE? (i plan to use 32 bit on scope anyway) _I know you mentioned "early" versions of Win 7, maybe SP1 is too late?

Re: Scope PCI & Xite

Just did a quick Google - physical address extension - is this it? - Where do you get this from? - not good nVidia doesn't work I've got some GT710's.

How about Radeon? - And where to get PAE from or how to? - I've not heard of this

Scope PCI & Xite

Hi,

Does Scope with the PCI cards and Xite - with Scope 5.1 & 7 work "just fine" with Windows 7 32 & 64 "WITHOUT ANY WINDOWS UPDATES?"

Just a quick query to make sure -
