on this page it says 'all inclusive' for the main studio tools, but of course excludes the additional effect and synth packages.

http://preview.connectix.com/trial/ looks somewhat pricey at first glance, but possibly able to improve performance significantly as you can have a bunch of specialized virtual machines with a lean Windows installation on each one. You can freeze one system and instantly switch to over to another, o...

I totally agree with Ben and Visilia  WHAT A SYNTH  it was really fun to check the extremely comprehensive manual first (tnx Ben) to get the idea behind the thing. A very clear concept and a functional, yet great looking interface, but significantly different from 'standard' designs and ...

Sometime ago Pulsar and MP on the PC was a definite no go and CW warned to use dual CPU mobos. If memory serves me right that was also a bios / chipset issue, but I'm not completely shure. Then there were (at least some) dual boards reported to be usable. The general methods of building software app...

Have a look into the presets folder of SFP. In the subfolders effects, midi, mixers there's a folder called Basic. I assume all items in that Basic folder belong to 'Main Studiotools', which indeed are included with any version of SFP. If you cannot use those devices, than CW should fix the issue. A...

I dunno how multiprocessing is implemented in Cubase or any details about CW's Asio implementation, but possibly some general hints may explain what's happening. To take advantage of multiple CPUs the software has to be build with a specialized library, opposed to the regular stuff. If a programm be...

I've never seen such a cable, but from the connector on my board they look like the antic floppy cables, so nothing really special. Since you have an STDM cable, you might show it to some electronic wiz in your area to make one with a different connector. It's easy with the proper tools - and that's...

the DSP ram is used for the task running on the chip, so a different distribution of tasks might indeed have an influence - but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Like at0mic wrote above, 8 different masterverbs are far from practical use, but of course you're free to design whatever sound you like :s...

do you have the door full open = on the floor ? then there's a good chance the CPU overheats because it's out of the airflow of the cooler. It's a totally sucking design, indeed. Close it as much as possible and fix with gaffa tape  I know this sound ridiculous, but you'll have to get it runnin...

Zelbo, what's the brand of the memchips ? Are they marked with 'Apple certified' stickers ? The new Dual G4s seem to be extremely sensitive to this. I've had reproducable errors cured by exchanging extra ram, which was bought according to specs from a local PC shop. You may check this by removing an...

if you want to sell one or two of your old boards and then get a PowerPulsar, then transfering licenses is most easy if you do it before sale.
If you plan a 3-stage sell-one/license-next board it's a little annoying if you do it within a week or so, but it's possible.

that reminds me on a stunning performance of violinist Hilary Hahn I once happened to watch on TV. There was that deep unit between instrument and player. new equation: lightspeed = 10 samples at 48 khz
when I feed a channel from my mixer to Pulsar via Adat, then back into the mixer (without processing in SFP) and record the mixer's master out then both signals are 20 samples (guess it was about 0.5 ms) apart.

Spirit is right. That would be the best solution because the encoder of a camcorder is much more sophisticated than elcheapo framegrabbers or IOs of standard video cards. The encoder chips MUST be licenced by Sony, so PCI boards including them are rather expensive. But afaik not all camcorders have ...
