Well I guess I will get a SATA card, I already have a 4 slot RAID cage w/ a spare HDD copy of each HDD now. It is uneeded as I got this before I used the apps as a precaution which seems to be unnescessary. The little 865 board is so stable, upgrading might bring trouble. So I will fill a slot in my...

We have plenty of that too. I'm leaving to go work right now, but the dance floors are filled up here every night till 4am with lots of fine trim. I could never possibly leave this career for another. For the absense of fine trim would be my demise.

Great Topic, I seem to have a limitation w/ my two SATA ports. Could I keep my O.S. on the same drive w/VDAT files? If so then I could get a new HDD and still keep my 74 GB raptor for GS3 right? Tell me it's so. _________________ Jimmy V. Shit, time is up gotta go to work. JV <font size=-1>[ This Mes...

Thank You Kind Sirs, I find that the more I dig for truth, the cheaper it's gonna be. If I could do this trick you speak of GaryB, it is just like the old ADATs when they first came out in the early 90s. I did a bunch of my first Pro Tools work then. We had a problem w/ the BRC syncing up but the ol...

Guys I see w/mobile DAWs at the big shows use surge-x because of its all around protection and seems to get rid of all noise in recording process due to the higher quality of circuitry. Do a search on ebay for Surge-x, and then try one for furman sound. I bet you won't see one used. I saw one that w...

Alfonso, I got lost when you went to modular, but is this a way to sync an external hardware sequencer as well? If so then I believe I should be able to record through the Crane mic-pre into sp/dif to VDAT, and all this would be started by a small push on my Roland? That would be the best tip of the...

Well if anyone wants to know if Dual Core is good for music, I saw a pretty impressive set-up last night. It was a tribute to Ozzy band w/ keyboards. These guys had it down pretty good. I have always loved Sabbath since I was a boy, and these guys made me throw whats left of my hair around. The keyb...

Thank You Gents, I appreciate your input. On the topic of STS, aren't there memory issues w/ the amount of sampling time allowed? I really would just like to use VDAT, and all Scope if possible, for I haven't purchased the HD24 yet, plus the sound of VDAT is so warm, and clear, could I just record f...

This sounds like one could transfer tracks from one app to another. Are file transfers like this compatible with each other? If anyone here has knowledge of this little buggar, does it really work. This would be a great time saver. One could contract certain sections of compositions out to a sub-con...

It's time for me to embarass myself with a couple of questions about this excellant sounding recording app of ours. I had our key-tech record from FOH board last year into VDAT of a live performance using only 16 tracks. I was impressed by the summing quality of the app compared to the usual DA apps...

Eliam, I bought my computer part by part for cheap. I have a more expensive one w/ 2 Scope Professionals for studio, it is an unnecsessary overkill. A 4U servercase CK-481 goes for 140 USD. Send GaryB a PM if you are interested in a good stable live rig. He did my live box w/ GS3 for a fraction of t...

I'm still using hardware synths and sequencers, thoughI have given proper burial to many items in my project studio. I'm wondering how this sampler will work with XTC and say a stripped down sequencer in a live enviroment?

I find them in pricewatch.com Lots of cheap spare parts and such. Pentium M780 for 348 USD, possibly the coolest low power single threaded CPU ever built. But I'm not using sequencing host, so I'm happy w/ 865. I bought a packaged deal w/ 3.2ghz Northwood for 235 USD!! Happy hunting.

Brother Man Astro, I'm glad you chimed in. I was just hoping that there was a way to utilise the STS series of samplers live, and not just in the studio. I would like to silence my studio box more. It seems as though some transients are coming in the form of distortion and such on really quiet track...

I met some serious young Modular programmers while I was in Japan. It was there where I learned to get a more monophonic lead patch by using ModIII, and Flexor instead of Minimax, etc. But I still can't get the quality lag processor I want. Well that's why I still use a real analog synth for my leads...

Try bargaining at the Record Plant in SF for the use of an SSL or NEVE, just tell them you only need 10 bands of the EQ. I prefer the maximum bandwidth when it comes to finalising your mix. This price is justified only by the quality. I hope to use it on my studio box, and not my live rig. So when I...

I have converted some Giga content to STS as an experiment and found that I could delete some layers of the Vintaudio Upright Piano that weren't needed, freeing up 50% more RAM for other samples. The pianos sounded much better than those Soundfont samples which sound as good as my old Ensoniq 8 bit....

I hope I'm not stealing the thread with this question, but a while back I wanted to use the STS series instead of GS3 Orchestra. I was concerned about the RAM amounts also. Gigabyte makes a 4GB RAM card which sits in a PCI slot that can be dedicated as a psuedo HDD I believe. I'm still interested in...
