Re: Tech Report

sorry to disagree, but using the polyphony of a single sampler as a DAW benchmark is pointless to even misleading ;)

Re: Nord Lead 2 alike for Scope?

If it's a specific sound based on the synth engine (and not fx) then it's hard get the same out of Scope. Even if you copy the architecture of the patch 100%, the DSPs react very different. At least your're after a NordLead 2, the harshness of version 1 is close to impossible to match with Scope. My...

Re: How many PCI boards can you STDM ?

since you already have all the parts, you could just try it out - the mobo's doc reveals details about system architecture. Most likely 3 PCI slots form the main bus and the adapted PCIe is part of a different bus. That's not a general nogo - I once used such a slot adapter successfully myself (it j...

Re: Most beautiful space image !

Sorry @JoPo there are no pictures of the telescope - it looked quite like this one (except the tripod) https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/532974-premium-6in-f8-ota-in-usa/#entry7157147 But I didn't build it myself - that was the original plan and I finished to sand and polish the mirror glass succes...

Re: Most beautiful space image !

@JpPo you would have thought 'wtf is that dude about...???' if you'd seen me lugging the telescope out of suburb :D It was a 2 step procedure: first the 'stand' which was a flat wooden chair with a rotatable wrench bolted to the top as a 'telescope mount'. Left it half a mile away in a field. Went b...

4 boards is what fits on a 'regular' PCI bus 2.0 and 32bit PCI 2.1
no idea how the brigded additional card will be handled in your system.

Re: Most beautiful space image !

Money was really short those years and (non-toy) telescopes were hard to buy anyway in pre-internet days. Today it's much easier and you can boost your rig with image sensors and use all the digital processing tools. But the view by eye has a strange beauty on it's own. My nick is in fact influenced...

Re: Most beautiful space image !

@JoPo nice one 8) as a schoolboy I tried to build a Newton mirror telescope from scratch, starting with 2 disks of 6" diameter, 1" thick. Took weaks to sand the curve into the glass and polish the disk - when I was ready a student from the neighbourhood sold his telescope of same type an size... for...

Can't help it, but XP turned out to be the least annoying flavour of that OS for me over the years... :D
(no sophisticated piece of tech, but does the job - quite stable since disconnected from i-net and nothing new gets installed)

Re: Phase Fixer or Sample Delay Insert

I do it on recorded tracks in a similiar way, tbh I never ever used Phase Fix in such situations. (as dry and wet parts get a dedicated track anyway, I just shift the dry signal by aligning a location with a solid transient) Only takes a couple of seconds in SAW-Studio... one of the features for whi...

Re: Phase Fixer or Sample Delay Insert

Phase Fix also does a great job when aligning channels with external fx units 8)
(if one isn't using the 2448 Mixer, which has the feature built into the channel strip)
