Re: I got this new beast

Thanks for the fix Valis. @JoPo & SoundDesigner - it might be the case that I get similar rig for music workstation rather than hook the XITE-1D to this one. Then Ill use one of those mobos that support the PCI cards as well. At the moment, Im hesitant to change anything coz 'it aint broke'. But if ...

Dante. Supermicro 246 with the E-2186G is pretty damn fierce. https://www.supermicro.com/CDS_Image/uploads/imagecache/600px_wide/intel_motherboard_active/x11scz-f_front.jpg You can buy a server already made from Supermicro with the CPU and parts. Its a tiny ass 1U but looks sweet. Cool but I want t...

Thanks for listening Secret Test Kitchen. You might then like this one better (being all Electronic) : https://soundcloud.com/hitfoundry/x-atron I loved Jarre's 'Concerts In China' in the 80's - so tried to get that kind of Epic Jarre feel into this one. He is an inspiration for sure. Will have to c...

Re: New Xeon E boards support 3 PCI slots

No, you'll need a normal case. https://www.ibase.com.tw/english/ProductDetail/EmbeddedComputing/MB995 I think theres a typo on that page, where theres 3 PCI slots listed at the top, but the breakdown below lists them as PCI-E (?) No mention of the voltage. Do Scope PCI cards prefer 3.3V or 5V ? But...

Re: Timeworks Mastercomp phase issue?

I've been using the Timeworks Mastercomp for years now but realised that there may be a slight phase issue. I have the plugin inserted on the Master Insert of my STM 2448. I played just the stereo signal of a stereo source through it and Mono'd the Master output. There was still a signal coming thr...

Any ideas what i7 6 or 8 core CPU's would run on it ? Also what does 'embedded computing' mean in this context ?

Star System CentriFugue

A 15 minute 'experimental' electronic epic, composed recently as a follow up to a 1983 instrumental 'Atmosphere Legends'. For epics like this it helps to have some parameters to work within : 1) Should be 'through-composed'. By this I mean no overall structure, just sections that should transition m...

Re: Very Mixer old mixer from Version 3

The channel layout in Big Mixer was great - and I never had any sonic issues with the Big mixer. But the fact of having to switch between 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16 is why I eventually stopped using it.

Yep tried it for the article. Didn't try the mentioned MIDI automation on the freq offset though - that was just an idea at the time.... so if that works, good one.

Re: Autogate new plugin

Dante I finally read the link above. Really great site. What is a Quad Space Shepard Generator? Good question. I've asked here, asked Holger....nothing definitive. Historically it should generate a continuously rising or falling tone. I remember that sound from a Music Concrete lesson decades ago. ...

The 'Show Desktop' off issue with SC devices happens on both my PCI and XITE - and on both Windows 8 and Windows 10 (both 64 bit).

Not so in my tests : http://www.hitfoundry.com/issue_27/sc7_mast.htm ( select 'SC-AutoGate' from menu ).

The only downside on my system I have to have Scope 'Show Desktop' mode turned off in order for any SC devices to load.

Re: Propellerhead Europa - Flagship synth playable in Google Chrome

I doubt very much that a few native rack extensions made into VST will undermine the Reason eco-system - there's simply too much going on in Reason now for that to happen. I still predominantly use Rack Extension in Reason with only the occassional VST. But its good to know VST is there if for examp...
