Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018 and beyond

More updates. First, an interesting in-depth analysis from 2015 that covers such topics as "Google is to surveillance capitalism what General Motors was to managerial capitalism": https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2594754 Some thoughts from the GNU side of the 'freedom' isle that s...

Re: Asus Crossblade Ranger

15-20 years ago, non supermicro boards died quickly and upgrade cycles we so fast that people didn't care. Now that gaming machines will last 4-7 years, most boards are up to snuff as well. And RMA's aren't nearly as painful as they were 15 years ago. And no, the Scope has a low end Komplete Audio 6...

Re: New Windows 10 installation - how should I tune it?

Well as luck would have it, this is the room that feeds my family and houses my setup. So it's worthwhile, and all of us should be so lucky imo.

I'm aiming for a "one pc to run it all"-concept here, and I want to integrate my RYTM with Scope 7, so there's no real way around windows 10.
And here I sit, with 8 different machines each doing its set of tasks... :D

Re: Asus Crossblade Ranger

And here I sit, supermicro as always. No apps, little OC'ing potential, lots of fake news about chips being added in China and yet every board I have from them dating back to 1996 still boots & works, rock solid! Though I will admit I scored an alienware R7 Aurora from doing an Intel VR TV commercia...

Re: Computer installation

Win7 itself doesn't properly support certain modern CPU's without update patches, and many drivers are immature when launched. Meaning they pass QA in a small testbed of machines internally, but were not yet vetted with the large public. Hence the need to download current / recent stable versions to...

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018 and beyond

Saw that, thanks for sharing. Also realize that the issue with all of these things is that the carriers are not necessarily in violation per se (without further proof), but 3rd parties may leak or use data in many ways that can wind up exposing our data to aggregators and black market players that w...

Re: PCI Overflow Solved

He may have asked how long you've been using Kontakt because many years back limiting poly was how we would limit RAM & cpu footprint when using single or multiple instances...especially important in the p3/early p4 era when 1-2GB of ram was a luxury.

Re: Phase Fixer or Sample Delay Insert

Just a note that when phasefix is necessary, you will likely have to adjust it on every project load, as the dsps will change in regards to what is loaded where. Also, this is not as useful probably for jimmy and live setups, but when I would use phasefix for fixing parallel situations or an fx retu...

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

It's possible that it had a manufacturing defect, though they are rare they do occur to CPU's. I had an AMD cpu die within a month last year and had to RMA it. That system has run stably 24/7 since with the identical SKU cpu recieved via RMA. It's also possible however that the VRM's on that board w...

Try the following fourms: Johnny Guru, guru3d (less likely for general hardware but sometimes has a hit and has very knowledgeable users), anandtech/tomshardware and of course reddit.

Re: BCModular~guide | 2018.12.24

If any other sites hosted on that same IP are compromised then it can affect them all in lists that track such things.

This is also why I asked what software is running behind the bcmodular pages. If it’s not disk bound (as media wiki is) we can always host it on my box.
