Re: Has a RME pcie better Performance with vst Plugins?

Same here, with the exception that my version of Wavelab requires elevated priveledges in Win10 and that stops drag & drop behavior, as explorer.exe runs at a different priority level. WIthout that elevation tweak however, it won't write the necessary configuration files to the user/appdata/ area, a...

Re: Has a RME pcie better Performance with vst Plugins?

I run RME cards in 2 other machines alongside my Scope cards, and have them all synced via word lock and have ADAT & SPDIF/AES running everywhere alongside analog I/O all connected to my mixing boards. Routing options are too numerous to mention, but as long as I have all my connections documented t...

Re: Cinebench R15

The only downside to this is that Cinebench won't stress any of the other components of a system, so it's simply going to reflect the IPC & math capabilities of the architecture. It won't reflect memory subsystem speeds, PCIe bandwidth, bus contention (DPC latency for instance) and other metrics tha...

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

Bit depth has to do with signal:noise aka noise floor, the filters don’t matter there. You are unlikely to be mixing enough samples (playing enough notes) with a wide enough dynamic range for the noisefloor of 16buts to matter here.

Please pm me when you have more content up, this should be on the front page and perhaps featured here somewhere in the forums so all users can easily access your content. We can also talk about giving you a quick frontend for your content, if you need that (or at least some help with a youtube bann...

Ok, thank you for the heads up. If I can help within my schedule, will do so.

And thank you for the clarification as well.

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018

Well, in regards to 'what is being discussed here' you'll forgive the threaded format, but this is a forum and things are often posted when relevant and as an ongoing discussion rather than a well prepared article or thesis. And since this isn't about virii & older computer issues, it can and certai...

Re: 96 KHz

This whole discussion has been done here before, but it's important to look first at why samplerates were a thing to consider in the early days of the digital workflow. The first digital recording devices worked at 48khz so that they could shift the combined artifacts of the decimation filter (which...

Re: 96 KHz

Not faster HDD or more RAM, less bottlenecks and more responsive system. But..., how do you achieve it without upgrading? I don't see it. Less bottlenecks means upgrading, doesn't it? Well that would depend on the system you currently have, wouldn't it? Bottlenecks may come in the form of system dr...

Re: 96 KHz

Not faster HDD or more RAM, less bottlenecks and more responsive system. DPC latency calls start to have more impact, you might buy an SSD only to find that it has certain latency issues on writing more than a certain amount of data, RAM can help if you’re for some reason swapping to disk...

Re: 96 KHz

It depends entirely on your plugin load, whether native or VST. With over sampled plugins the increased load will be less, assuming they respond to the higher sample rate appropriately (4X oversampling @ 48Khz =2X @ 96 for instance). The reduced latency can be nice for the live recording side of thi...

Re: About Scope upgrade

What he means is that 'changing the order of your cards' was interpreted as 'i made a different card the first one seen by my system', either by rearranging the cards in their PCI slots or via editing CSET.ini. In which case the 'new first card' now has priority over the Scope software, but all card...

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018

Please don't take my information as fear-mongering. I just think it's good to limit what we expose when we're online. Our lives are complicated by business analytics finally turning its attention to everything we do in life. Analytics & Statistics have LONG been a part of business of course, but nev...
