Re: Cracks and Pops - which line filter ?

Sounds more like the device goes into a lower power mode and lags in responding to system requests for i/o. Most of these modern Wifi/ether/etc chipsets are PIO mode, like USB, which means that they are dumb IC's and driven by a software stack on your CPU. In 'high performance' mode they are always ...

Re: Back on Scope

You can work around the 4GB limit on a machine that is running 32bit WinXP with the PAE extension, though I seem to recall in the final service pack this may have been changed and requires a patch to the HAL. A quick google shows that Win7/8 require a patch , but I'm working and didn't dig around en...

Re: HEAT - How much of a problem is it for the XITE?

Btw it's worth noting that adding heatsinks, while not strictly necessary (as S|C would have done that if so), can still help the heat exit the case if and when fans are added. As long as they are added in a direction that is compatible with the airflow, and located where the airflow can reach them,...

Re: HEAT - How much of a problem is it for the XITE?

A/C is essential imo. Last summer when the heat here was too much even for my 12000 btu studio unit, I lost a synth. Would hate to lose my DSPs!

Re: 20th Anniversary on PlanetZ

I'm still in irc, but sadly that channel had someone else's bots in it at the end and eventually they recognized noone and would not give up ops, so I gave up on it. I'm over at a few other smaller/private IRCd's more often than EFnet these days, but IRC will never die :)

Re: Back on Scope

Yes, I’m on V7 for SDK & Scope both. UI seems more responsive in the mode I prefer (where window floats over Windows desktop) and DSP allocation seems improved somewhat, though I don’t know if that’s anecdotal or not. Worth it to support Sonic|Core if nothing else :)

Re: Engineering logs of scope ?

Glad you had done all you could to assure the larger card was first and all else was in order. It's also possible you just prefer a circuit bent Solaris (I jest) :)

Re: Engineering logs of scope ?

Most delays & reverbs are async as well as sync, which means they use the host to buffer the delay lines. Solaris is most likely a DSP allocation issue, with certain atoms winding up spread too far across DSP as your load hits a maximum on your first DSPs. Which card shows first in your DSP meter? t...

pc1600x was my first box of sliders, and built like a tank. Miss that thing. It also works OOTB with the Unreal Engine and Autodesk’s 3D software, due to being the default defined device for this software since the 90’s.

Re: Midi 2.0 & MIDI-CI, Midi Profiles, Midi Property Exchange

This I agree with. My affinity for and affection of the tech is what kept me going for decades. I do enjoy computers & software too, but the wide shallows do seem to attract so many these days. On a lighter note, rather than longing for an APC Mk4 with autoconfigure uber alles, I do see hope that so...

Re: Midi 2.0 & MIDI-CI, Midi Profiles, Midi Property Exchange

MPE support rolled out rather quickly. Since this includes things like autoconfiguration, I can see that as a line-item feature for the next version of major DAWs (except Emagic who likes to slip major features into minor dot releases).

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018 and beyond

Either way, I still ponder whether it's Google's(/Facebook/Insert oligarchy here) business--or our elected government's--if I enjoy topless burmese cat cam-sites or choose to spend my time playing virtual beer pong instead of being wrapped up in the latest emotional 'vortex' trigger-fest in the soci...
