Re: VSL Big Band Orchestra FREE!

It's well worth the cost of the dongle but it IS a hassle.

Re: The music industry has never been worse

Music became an "industry" during the tin pan alley era. Music can also be art and art will never die.

Re: Cubase 50% off 30 years anniversary offer

Cubase has been getting much better in recent years. I can't live without it. It has so many features (some call it bloat because they are too lazy to learn it) but you don't have to use them all. As far as I know, it is the only one where you can make custom keyboard shortcuts for every single thin...

Re: Waldorf Kyra (Valkyrie)

The fake synths are what need bigger faster CPUs and still don’t get hardware quality sound. Cheers I am getting into hardware now. I like the new analogue/digital hybrids such as the Prophet X. Hardware is a lot better than it used to be (in some cases). I would hate to add up all the money I've s...

Just ordered mine from Sweetwater. It will be fun using with the SE-02 and the Beatstep Pro! All three are an incredible value!

I don't need that many voices. Rather get the Prophet X.

But if you are not in the ecosystem, it's a great thing! Just what it may take for me to purchase Propellerhead software again. It looks interesting and the price is good.

Linnstrument (My Review)

So I took a chance and bought the Linnstrument without actually trying it first. At this price I was expecting it to be a little more perfect which it is not, however I do not regret my purchase. There are a lot of things they could have done better but as it's a small company, it's a great first at...

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

This from their website: "Fifty gigabytes of additional internal storage is dedicated to importing external sample libraries. Support for user-created samples is planned for December 2018. Add-on sample packs are available from 8Dio on product release." Seems like they are serious. I don't...

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

Yeah - I find it interesting as well, but the price is "naughty". There are quite a few interesting demos here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=8Dio+Sequential+Prophet+X About the future sample import feature, if this is important to you, then maybe you should wait until they...

Great demo here. I'm sold! I would not buy this if not for the future sample import feature.

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

I'd bet the samples are 16bit, but all processing is either 24 or 32bit anyway (DSPs just don't do much as 16b accumulation naturally), so the output of the oscillators after pitch shifting is still 24/32b. Still, the filters add another level of smoothing, and some of the best samples I have (once...

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

I'm thinking the great analogue filters make up for the low bit depth, still I wonder. I guess I will have to try it in the store and thankfully, my local store will carry this. The other prophets sound fantastic.
