Re: planning new scope system for Live usage

Tkz Gary, That 1150 motherboard was failing, just have no luck at all with the pulsar. In the mean time i upgraded my z800 tot 2x xeon 5660 and 48 gyg ram for only 100 euro. Bought a secondhand RME 9652 for it. The z800 realy is a beast and did the reason stresstest with a glance. Now i have two sys...

Re: scope and ADA8200 ADAT

I always have my 2 ada 8200 in slave mode.
Like Gary says u have to use both input and output.

Did u checked adat optical option on scope? U can use adat A or B.
If u run scope in slave it has to lock to 41 or 48 Khz, if there is no sync change cables to the other ports.

Didn't upgrade again. Still @ 7.5 here.
Waves L3 maximizer is good enough for me.

Re: planning new scope system for Live usage

Update, Picked up a Gigabyte GA-Z87P-D3 motherboard. It got 4 pci slots on it. Already had 4 x8 ddr3 Ram lying around. Only need to look for a processor now and i can build. My plan is to build the system in a 2u case custom made or whats on the market. Will use pci extender to flip the pulsar horiz...

Re: anyone using scope as standalone?

I see and i think u right.
Back in the days i only new Sharqs and motorola. Nowadays i dont even know whats in my X32, motu or other hardware. But i guess those chips would't have the same amount of power as an Xite?

Re: planning new scope system for Live usage

it's cool, i just meant that it's pretty well known what works well and that there's no need to get too crazy with it. the only thing that should never share an irq with the Scope card is USB, and it's easy to disable a controller or two, if needed. new computers have 4 or 5 controllers, at least a...

Re: anyone using scope as standalone?

yes, the RME card has dsp, but it's not the same thing in any way, shape, or form. believe what you want, though. I believe u when u say its not the same thing. My knowledge about DSP aint to write home about. Actualy i regret that course i could compare hardware better if i knew the difference in ...

Re: planning new scope system for Live usage

From what i get from your story is that you use it mainly as a soundcard while it can do so much more...especially fx and synth wise. Scope just has a sound...it's alive...omg haha....well if it works for you....should try optimus prime for nice fx. Wink wink hehe. Nice to read you guys also use hw...

Re: planning new scope system for Live usage

Hello Manomars, I went for the 1150 socket option, and came from a dual opteron dual core...but i won't do an amd system ever again. yeah yeah...it's cheaper, but intel is just very good, less compat problems, and they run cooler....especially live that is important. Go for a good psu...not some ch...

Re: anyone using scope as standalone?

no, it's because it's not a realtime device. Scope audio is realtime on the card. the computer is not realtime. if the computyer falls behind the audio stream, then data is missing and you get pops and clicks. the RME card is a soundcard, not an audio device. it's not designed for realtime operatio...

Re: anyone using scope as standalone?

You're probably right Gary.
So first some elimination of things giving me lag spikes.
The RME doesnt suffer from the lag spikes at all, maybe becourse it communicates directly to the cpu.

i mean, even if you make the most awesome choice right now, in 6 months everyone will be clucking their tongues and wondering why you didn't just wait, because what you just bought is passe. the more you think about it, the greater the chance that you'll just have to think about it a whole lot more...

Re: Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4

This processor family scores high thats true. But this Xeon E5-2620 v4 is one of the cheapest. To build it with 2 procs would still be expensive. If u build it in a workstation/server u can't overclock. Turboboost on modern systems give lag spikes due memory related issues. I think u be better of wi...
