Re: garyb 20k
Thanks Gary! For all that you do! If it weren't for you, I would still be using a Pulsar I with minimal creative output. Now I'm rocking an XITE-1 with an astonishing range of possibilities. :D I hope this finds you well. Someday soon, when a collection of boss riffs are re-organized into coherent S...

Re: Scope on Haiku? Other thoughts...
I used to think Haiku was a worthy pursuit (back when it was BeOS and openBe), but I'm not sure what the advantage is today. I don't think it'd get lower latency than most systems get now, so then...? The only advantages I envisioned were faster OS load times, and less muck (and 'necessary' updates...

Nobody wants to even posit a thought about this? We have some heavy-hitters as far as programming goes that are SCOPE-aholics...what say any of you?

Not dead yet - my new XITE-1 arrived today and she is gorgeous!
Cannot wait to get the XITE-1 based studio up and running!

Re: The #1 Rule of Home Recording
With the above in place and Scope there are no excuses.... Si Having been introduced to SCOPE through an old Pulsar 1 card, and having researched the capabilities of the XITE-1, this has been my conclusion (I've done live sound for quite a few years, been offered tours, yadda-yadda-yadda). There is...

Re: Loading Xite-1 with 11 modular x12 voices
Any chance you can code for allowing one to import 3D surface patches (.stl or MATLAB/Mathematica)? This could be extremely handy...fra77x2 wrote:The 3D wavetable oscillator for my modular DAW. (very early visual preview)

Re: Audio Turning Into Farts
So it seems the headphones don't go to shit while the main outs do. That sucks. The only other thing I'd check is an AES > Audio converter. 2 out of 3 working proves it's the audio outs. The hard thing, is that this sounds like it's intermittent. That could mean a power supply heats up, and eventua...

Re: Will be scope 6 too ambitious ?
In my mind, the Slot idea in XITE reflects the older PCI paradigm: each slot is like a PCI card, and the older sharcs serve as the cables between cards. The optimizer doesn't seem to take this into account. Why reinvent the wheel? The PCIs were quite competent. Now 'they' get a performance boost by...

Re: Will be scope 6 too ambitious ?
I think it will be more than just bug fixes but it doesnt have to be overwhelmingly much more than that. If Scope 6 simply allows an XITE to handle all of the already existing synths without ANY of the restrictions (polyphony and Solaris stuff) then I'd invest in an XITE. I understand an XITE would...

Scope on Haiku? Other thoughts...
Hey folks! Has anyone considered Haiku as a happy home for SCOPE? Since the environment doesn't use a 'Windows soundcard' then a switch should be easy. Of course, since the JUCE framework makes for 'easy' portability so how might DAW (Cubase, SONAR, Logic, etc.) get ported onto Haiku? Lastly, some h...

Re: SDK6
SDK6 requires an XITE or ScopePro (15DSP min.) and I have none of these...Neither the SDK6, the XITE, nor a ScopePro...So, as I learn DSP and code in MATLAB I'll be saving towards that environment. :) Proabably end of next year at the earliest - no worries: you're outstanding plugs/devices are quite...

Re: Please make me a meter bridge.
well, for Scope. peak-hold would be fine. vertical ladders would be preferable. audio input pads and a click/drag system to change the number of channels like the dynamic mixer would be awesome. nothing extraordinary needed... I'm just now learning some DSP stuff so it would be a long while before ...

Re: ADI "Crystals"
There might be a function call called 'Crystals' that utilizes a (n proven) machine/assembly code routine where the VisualDSP values populate the appropriate register(s).jksuperstar wrote:Is this a VisualDSP++ thing?

Re: Please make me a meter bridge.
Are you looking for a sea of VU meters like an old MCI console or the blippity-bloppity LED kind?
What scale of metering would you like (peak-hold/RMS/K-scale)?
What type of inputs (analog I assume)?

Re: ADI "Crystals"
ADI has changed their website and formatting. I can no longer find it. They do, however, still advertise that they have "over 100 pre-built audio algorithms." It is my belief that 'Crystals' are among these as there are about 20 or so X-over styles, 10 or so delays, pink/white noise, etc. ...

Re: Ferrofish AE
Yes. Aside from the timestamp, nothing changes with the data... The digital processing inside the DA7 is fine as I've manipulated things on the digital side and no smearing had occurred, only when interfacing with the card through ADAT. Not a big issue for me ATM because I have no need to multitrack...

Re: Ferrofish AE
..... I was referring to the signal quality of ADAT I/Os through my rig (WRDA-7 -> Pulsar I 4dsp). Could just be the cabling as I borrowed an ADATxt and had the same results (used 48 & 44.1 and no real difference in audio quality). ..... There must be another problem then. I used to use a DA7 o...

Re: Ferrofish AE
that's true, but it might work when it works, but the not when it doesn't. if it doesn't work for brief periods of time, you might not notice anything except that it didn't seem to sound as good as you would like. Actually I'm beginning to see your point as my prejudice wears-off (too long a time i...

Re: Ferrofish AE
I'll have to A/B my 'bad' TOSlink cable with a known 'good' one to be persuaded this is possible - and that opportunity will arrive rather soon ;) Knowing that the imperfections inherent to even the best 'quality' cable are quite large in comparison with the wavelength of light (transmission of data...

Re: Ferrofish AE
Interesting about the light pipe. Could you clarify as to what you mean by quality. Do you mean sound/signal quality? Does anyone agree with this, as this is a deal breaker? Clarification is in order: I do not own, nor have I ever used a Ferrofish. I'm sure it's a fine device, and I am definitely i...
