Re: DSP Optimization

From way back I remember (not from experience) that DSPs could be assigned relative to one another, and the STM mixer channels are scattered across DSPs 7-10 to pull off the 32 and 48 channel mixers.

Re: Vcv Rack open source great Modular

I've owned or experimented with most hardware and software modulars. I was a long time user of the Nord Mod and Nord Mod G2, MAX, Reactor, C, and really, SCOPE wins on sound. What it lacks in sequencing can generally be accomplished through a host-based daw or program. What it lacks in sound...no wa...

Yep still Aluminum 16v 47uF caps.

You must run in a very hot and/or dry environment, to have so many caps dry out on you at the same time.

Re: What additional plugins are your favourites ?

The "Trump Pedals Trump" distortion effect is a talk-box effect capable of creating any sound you want to hear. Once installed, it functions as a bypass in your signal chain, taking your power and concentrating it for use by other TrumpedByDesign effects. Non branded pedals in your signal chain may ...

Re: What additional plugins are your favourites ?

There was a thread with archived of devices...maybe it was Mr Arkadin's collections? Can't find it now..

Also, go to the Board Index (top Of this forum), scroll to the bottom of that page, and you'll see a "Devices" heading under the "Files" section. Many devices to be found there!

Re: Yet Another Moog - the Grandmother of them all

So, why bother with the various Model D over the Sonic Core one? It seems to serve my purposes for everything the model D could do, and then takes it further.

Re: What additional plugins are your favourites ?

Zarg synths like ProWave are simple and powerful (soundwise), and they can be extended by making.Modular plugins for oscillators, and include a slew of filter choices. Prodyssey just always sounds good to me. But dNa's effect rack makes anything sound better, and I always throw in a bass amp like Ce...

Re: Dave Smith Instruments & 8DIO Sequential Prophet X

I'd bet the samples are 16bit, but all processing is either 24 or 32bit anyway (DSPs just don't do much as 16b accumulation naturally), so the output of the oscillators after pitch shifting is still 24/32b. Still, the filters add another level of smoothing, and some of the best samples I have (once ...

My Korg DSS-1 is a 12/16bit sampler with analog filters, and damn it's the finest combo of cream and grit I've ever heard.

Prophet (r)evolver with VS type wavetables or further sampling would be fun. Almost as good as a Zarg ProWave! Almost.

Re: Merits of going 24bit/96khz?

Back to 16bit vs. 24bit: My two cents (or sense) is that use it if you have it, but drums of all instruments benefit the least from the larger samples. Drums, in a mix, (and in my senses), have the least dynamic range, in terms of raw sample bits that come through directly in a mix (samples without ...

Many git servers offer wiki already, unless it still needs restricted access for certain developers.

Gitlab is one of my favorites.

Re: DSP assignment. How does it work? What are the best DSPs to use.

I don't remember where it came from now, but if you assign a synth to a slot (9/13/17 dsps), make it one voice before you do the assignment, make the assignment, and then set the voices to what you want, and all the synth voices should stay within that slot, simplifying routing to mixers and midi ro...

Re: DSP assignment. How does it work? What are the best DSPs to use.

In general, DSPs 7-10 have the most inter-DSP connections, and provide the best place for mixer's to live (STM2448x go here) with the other DSPs intended for synths/FX on channels as such: 7 : 11, 15 8 : 12, 16 9 : 13, 17 10: 14, 18 If the DSP assignments stick, this gives the least number of SAT co...
