Does anyone still have my Finland show tracks?

Through countless migrations, both PC wise and residential wise, I've lost the music from my dance show in Finland. It's the suite of compositions with an exaggerated Asian twist. Please share with me if you still have them. BTW, I've recently lost my HD with all my sample based instruments on it so...

Got brain tumor and got it removed

Very eventful past 2 months. My family was in Tokyo so kids could try going to school in Japan. I stayed in NJ to stay watch over my project at work. A week before my flight to Tokyo, I got a major headache. Smoke alarms had been doing the low battery blip 24/7 so I just took all of them down, and f...

Re: Any car people out here?

Haha, yeah, the Skyline is a classic... still is. But I heard the "impossible to own" ones are the ones fetching premiums in the US, like the R34. I don't know what the R34 is, but I just know that's a model that was only legally imported in super limited quantity. I think the Skyline's hi...

Any car people out here?

I'm not a car person. I don't particularly hate cars, but I have like zero attachment to cars. It's probably because my first car was a Rover Mini Kensington, that was just put under my care by my uncle. He didn't give it to me, he just wanted me to keep it "current" (inspections and such)...

Re: dug out an older piece

Sometimes it happens, and ya, the idea seems to write itself. Other times though I've had to force it, and make the idea materialize with sheer will power. But obviously that's more typically music I do for work, that needs to do very specific things, and be done by a specific time. I think it's a s...

dug out an older piece

I found this older piece on my soundcloud... I remembered the general layout of the tune, but listening to it, it turned out to be a good find because the piece was much better than how I remembered it. https://soundcloud.com/ken-suguro/interestingbass-tweak I think it's one of those moments where I...

Darkstalkers: Morrigan theme

Another game centric tune, this time from the fighter game Darkstalkers, or Vampire Hunters depending on region. I played the first of the series just a little bit. Didn't really get too deep in to it, and don't remember much of it. I actually don't even remember which character I played, so that ki...

incredible 12yo shredder

This was jaw dropping guitar shredding from a 12yo Japanese girl.. I guess she's already pretty famous on the internets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYJKUTciHRU That's Dragonball theme song cover, so more just playing the melody. More shredding toward second half. This is where it gets crazy htt...

man, this is serious... the unseen byproduct of climate change is.. less keyboards to perform/work with? That would be a quite roundabout way to damage the progress of music! buuut the problem doesn't seem intuitive enough to cause a full on revolution...

rethinking melodies and supporting lines

Listening to old game music classics, I think it was a good opportunity to get back in touch with the basics of melody writing, or line writing in general. With limited voices, older game music were extremely clever in how they utilized each voice to depict aspects of the composition. Many times, th...

Re: Star System CentriFugue

massive piece indeed! I liked the beats around 2:28, probably could have used cooler drum samples but that's just a stylistic preference. The super synced lead that comes in a bit later sounds awesome. The hats around 12:00 sounds a bit too harsh and forward. I liked the calliope lead tho, stylistic...

changing monitors is a challenging and exciting undertaking. Ultimately I think your ears come out smarter than before the transition, so I think it's a meaningful investment. Good luck!

Sutakora Sassa! Ending theme from Golden Axe

My family's in Tokyo for a year so effectively using this new thing called "free time", I've been listening to a lot of retro game tune classics. One song that I've never covered is Sutakora Sassa, or the end credit roll song. I played lots of Golden Axe on the Genesis back then, and this ...

Re: New studio monitors and referencing

I think you just need to spend more time with the new monitors. It takes a very long time for me to learn new monitors.. few weeks to get comfortable, but maybe even a few years to fully integrate. IMHO adjustments are fair game. Some monitors are very, very bright and need to be toned down a bit. (...

Re: Waldorf Kyra (Valkyrie)

seems like a pretty well rounded synth. As the guy says, doesn't seem to be going for a crazy innovative appeal, but rather doing the basics really really well, which I think is a commendable approach. Oversampled oscillators are nice, though I honestly don't mind aliasing too much... I just take it...

Re: Vcv Rack open source great Modular

I checked out the music on the website. IMHO, it sounds pretty generic, which I think is ok for a modular system. The demo pieces are a bit of a mixed bag. Some more inspired than others, but none of them really struck me as uniquely inspiring. Probably says more about the user community than VCV it...
