Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018 and beyond
Germany is in the process of outlawing Facebook's entire business model. That should be fun. TThis is why I hate when governments get involved with stuff like this. They get looney and come with a iron fist solution thus the cure ends up being worse then the problem. Many nations are now proposing ...

the UN has declared China to be "the model government" for the world... i really hate centrally-planned governments and economies. as Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." this is the atti...

I'm sure most of you saw the latest NYTimes coverage on facebook sharing data with 3rd parties: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/18/technology/facebook-privacy.html Here's the VERY relevant quote from the NYT article: "Facebook allowed Microsoft’s Bing search engine to see the names of virtually all...

The stock synth Poison is nice and can make some interesting sounds. Has its own character for sure.

UPDATE Well, my computer store gave me a quote then promptly closed down to do internet sales only...Hmmm. However, my mouse was jumping all over the screen, so I bought a graphics card with 2Gig memory, only AU $55, just to see what would happen. The answer: Brilliant. I'm very happy. No more glit...

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018
The EU Government I'm sure will hit them with a huge fine penalty since the EU Government is always looking for a excuse to squeeze Google and other Big Tech companies for money. Crap,- they are unrivaled global players and make BIG money in europe while paying almost no taxes here. Not only Google...

Re: Security & Privacy with technology in 2018
Google is now ending Google-Plus because of a bug it has that may have revealed hundreds of thousands of users personal data. This was known by Google many months ago but they said nothing about it cause they feared Government scrutiny and consequences, assuming they might come from it. The EU Gover...

Re: Scope mastering vs iZotope Ozone 8
IMHO, Izotope makes the best Native plugins. I love ChannelStrips and Izotope are the very best at Channelstrips with their gui layout, workflow, and flexibility/many control parameters. You might can find some other Native plugins that are sold individually and not in channelstrips wich sound a bit...

Re: Roland's new Keytar the AX-EDGE, WOW. Impressive!
Well the sounds are sure nice! Just like the old one. And having great internal sounds is certainly a plus. Priced a little too steep imho. I agree the price is a bit high. I think that is cause it has a versatile synth engine, and a lot more keys than usual, and seems to be a rare and niche produc...

Re: I got this new beast
Looks like another 6-Core by intel has just been released. Intel seems to have a goal of dramatic speed increase for their 6-Cores. The new i7 8086K 6-Core is running at 4 GHz. That's almost as fast as the current quads wich are 4.2 GHZ and a pretty big increase over 6-cores from a couple years ago ...

Roland's new Keytar the AX-EDGE, WOW. Impressive!
The new Roland Keytar looks amazing and sounds really nice. For those that don't know a Keytar is a cross between a Keyboard and a Guitar, it is the child of both of them. Roland are the best at Keytars with regards to looks, more keys (49 keys(, Sound (Roland usually has a built in synth engine as ...

Congrats on the new beast! When you do migrate your audio work to it definitely let us know how it all goes. Those recent generations 6-Cores are very impressive and well priced for the Audio-World. Real powerhouses for sure!

You might want to check your Keyfile and see if Solaris key is under a different name. When I upgraded from pci cards to XITE-1 I got new keyfiles for my XITE-1 and when I looked at my John Bowen synths the Solaris was missing BUT there was a new key for Orion Custom Ex wich worked fine for activati...

Re: In layman terms please.....
Will probably splurge a little and add 64Gb RAM for plenty of elbow room and future proofing. Even Scope 7 has 16Gb RAM recommended. The graphics card will probably behave in a better system. While it is good to have more than enough RAM in your system I don't think it's good to have waaaay more tha...
