Re: With or Without Windows Defender?

Win10 Privacy I use that too, on my Scope machine and last standing Windows computer. It's a feature on my router called MAC block . It works great, and has saved me from installing any kind of anti-virus or security software for the last 20 years. And according to a portable ClamAV which I scan th...

Re: Kanye West is Buying Parlour

So you take an open-source social media platform, rebrand it and remove all references to from where you grabbed the code, disable the federation so no other instances can join the network and then call it free speech. Cracked me up already. As next hilarious move Parlour went on a banning spree, ba...

Re: Cool Gear PCI to PCI Expansion

That looks very promising. Initially I was a bit sceptic, cos "it's not just about throughput'. But I was also a bit lazy, so a quick search turned up this superuser.com post on PCI max throughput: Conventional PCI buses operate with the following bandwidths: PCI 32-bit, 33 MHz: 1067 Mbit/s or ...

Re: AKAI Samplers Floppy Replacement

I've just last week removed my Akai stash from the studio, cleaned it up and took pics to put it all up for sale - which I haven't, yet. This Floppy Replacement thread might make me reconsider to keep some. S3000 and MPC2000XL both with FX and 8IO board, a bare S2000 and a DR4d. All in mint conditio...

Oh wow. I feel so sorry for JimmyV. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family and friends here and irl, and especially to Jimmy Junior. Brotha Man Jimmy was always great fun to have around here. Driven by his enthusiasm, humour and gratitude for a new tune or little goodies -even when...

Re: UAD going Native

there's plenty of load balancing potential. Have you ever worked with protools? I mean, for every plugin there, you can simply click a "move to DSP" or "move to native", that's literally all there is to it, and that's what impressed me. And of course, full presets compatibility ...

Re: UAD going Native

From experience on a Protools rig, I was most impressed to be able to manually swap out DSP and native plugins. Such load balancing is way convenient, I think: keep anything in the live chain on DSP for the realtime performance, and once tracked it's ok to have the processing on CPU. Though I think ...

Telegram scopers group

Hi, For some years I've been using Telegram. A couple times I searched for Scope related stuff, but didn't really find anything there. So thought I'd set up a group there, and now I have, so can't possibly not spam an invite here: https://t.me/scopeusers Refraining from getting used by any Zuckerber...

Re: Software Modulars

Don't ask me for details, but this gal made a CPU using VCV rack. (twitter) 8) :-? Falktx, also known for his kxstudio linux distro and .deb repositories, also made a bunch of open source VCV rack plugins (github) :) He's also made this plugin wrapper for VCV (github) . (edit: added link)

Re: No Words & Robot Revolution

Oh wow, red99. Really enjoyed listening to those albums! Totally old school electronica, but sounded fresh!

Really love your sounds, the arrangements and mixes are all top notch IMO.

Bit late in the evening for extensive review now, but for now and in short: I'm most impressed :D

Re: Solaris video

I'm impressed with the versatility of the device, something that's really what we all love about Scope, right? And John has managed to maintain that spirit and fit all that into a flagship synth for both keyboardists and synthfreaks who might not want to mouse about but just freakin' play hands-on. ...

Re: External (non-Scope) tools of our trade

Have I mentioned how much I love the new DT 700 Pro X headphones? Their predecessor, the famous 770's, made me instantly want to reach for EQ and tone down those highs. The lows I wasn't happy with either. I know this is probably a matter of taste, but I don't want my monitoring to show me how bad s...

Re: production: Cosmo Collective - Symbiocene

To me it's hard to put a genre or label on this, that's why I refrained from framing their album like that. Maybe 'the seventies' is what most comes to my mind. Though it's quite diverse: there's some rockabilly (The Hostage) but next is a reggae tune (Sleevet), then some jazzy jams, a singer-songwr...

production: Cosmo Collective - Symbiocene

Hi, Past october a band asked me to accompany them as a producer to a great studio. I couldn't resist the offer, so I joined them as a producer. I set out to record their demo. Recorded on location, but mixed and produced on Scope! They were so pleased with the result that they released the 13 track...

DeFex - 2001

Over 20y ago, I met DeFex, a musician and developer from Toronto, via this Creamware DSP platform ;) we both used. We collaborated on new devices, synths and effects: he would send me his new toys to test and play with. Countless friday nights we'd exchange idea's on plugins and tunes. I was pretty ...

Re: 50% DSP, but no placement possible ?

In other DAWs, I never came accross the task of relocating software items to cores. You mean DAW as in "runs on CPU" ? In CPU world, clock cycles are allocated dynamically. Basic example, if you play one note, CPU time for one note is made available when possible. If you play 10, 10 notes...

Re: 50% DSP, but no placement possible ?

nebelfuerst, looks like "100% async" on one DSP *is* a bottleneck. try moving some effects out of the mixer, when they're used as inserts. When inside a mixer, effects are locked to the same chips that the respective part of the mixer is locked. And aside from that.. async.. you got a lot ...

Windows DAW MAC-blocked. What still works?

Hi, I'm out of the loop, still using an old XP box with Scope and Cubase from back in the day. That machine works great for me: it does precisely what I need it to do: Record and mix my own gear and some sessions of a band from time to time. Needless to say that machine, since running a prehistoric ...
