I think a will try this first (re-instll cubase) before messing with sfp upgrade.

it is only ASIO driver not working from cubase - and I have no other apps using asio, so it could well be cubase. this re-install seems easier than pulasr.

will report back here. thanks all for ideas and views

What about just reinstalling drivers. And if this might do the trick, can I run latest sfp drivers in an otherwise 3.01 install, or should I try to dig out copies of my old 3.01 driver infs? I'm willing to do a full upgrade to sfp if need be (but note above, where I explained I'm still happy enough ...

hello people, looooooong time no post. my VST 32 5.0 crashed, giving a "Serious Problem" dialogue box, had to be closed with task manager. Now, Cubase can't seem to connect properly to Scope ASIO drivers in Pulsar v3.01, so no ASIO audio input to pulsar. In other apps (not cubase) Wave dri...

thanks atomic

Now that I read this I remeber seeing it before. Looks terribly clumsy. I was hoping they'd get around to improving the whole registration part of the software with 3.1. Maybe next revision.

I have two creamware cards - one has crapped out, pretty sure its a hardware problem. Meanwhile, I need to keep working. Problem is certain of my Pulsar soft devices are registered to one card, others to the other card. Any way to re-assign these so I can use all my devices ? (Still running 3.01, un...

Haven't managed succesful download here yet, after two tries. Reading this, I'm wondering if I should wait for 3.11. New SFP environment aside, no one has reported any substantial changes/improvements to key devices like Mod and STS. Any thing there which could tempt us not-quite-so-early adopters t...

Paul, sorry for delayed response. Away from planetz for a while. I had problems getting Logic to see a second MIDI port from Pulsar. Am away from my DAW now, so can't check details, but I recall that I could confirm it was present in Windows, but not showing in the dropdowns in Logic parameter boxes...

Hey Ken, Took a new day-job. kinda busy, kinda fun, but took me away from my studio and the planet for a while. As for psychoacoustics, its nothing I'd claim any particular expertise in, its just a topic I've read a few books on and thought about alot. Happy to provide anything I can, but I suspect ...

Good stuff, Ken. Here's another way to show that the tunings used in modern piano scales do not follow the perfect intervals of the harmonic series: Accept on faith two simple assertions, and then I can show this easily without any nasty logarythms. First, as Ken points out (and we all know) an octa...

Charlie Parker said (I paraphrase)

"learn all the technical and theory shit you can , then forget it all and just play!"

more or less the same goes for composing, I am sure

Poor Paul !! Why not upload it to PlanetZ?

to others - I don't yet have Logic 5.1, but had a few problems getting Pulsar MIDI working with Logic 4.8. Solved these by editing some Logic-related settings in Win.ini.

Search this forum. might be your problem in 5.1

here's a more controversial idea, but maybe worth considering: Like many others who don't come to it from a hardware sample background, I find the interface of the STS a bit clumsy, and found it an impediment to learning the program. I got to better understand my STS5k once I grasped its hierarchial...

One or more unified windows for assiging mod sources. Grid-like format, with parameters down the side, and mod sources across the top (some fixed, some user selectable via drop-downs) at the intersections of each parameter/modsource row and column would be a button, blank if un-assigned, illuminated...

If you try getting US428 to co-exist with Pulsar before I do, remember, the 428 is actually two devices in one : a MIDI controller and an audio IO box. Both tyes of data are sent in and out of the PC through USB. In Windows (or are you Mac?) the 428's drivers and control panel dialogue are fairly co...

I've had one sitting around for more than a year, bot one of the first ones out. It worked okay for me with Cubase pre-creamware. But when I went to Pulsar, I first had trouble with USB and Pulsar (2.04a then) under win98 so I set the 428 aside. I'm now running XP, Logic, and still of course pulsar,...

tkx alot Kimgr, that did the trick. I knew it was in there somewhere. win.ini had lines for Pulsar_MIDI_Out_2 and Pulsar_MIDI_In_2, but both were set =0. I changed them to be the same as ..._1, and everything works now as it should. thanks again BTW I am currently using 4.8.1 LAP. 5.0 is &qu...

lozt - as you read the manual and try to understand working in STS5000, best to think hierarchially. Think five levels: 1) STS5000. STS has a few Global settings, and holds up to 16 Programs. 2) Program. A Programhas Pogram level settings, and contains one or more KeyGroups. (Don't really know the p...

Thnx, but I know that. My problem is below that level. Logic doesn't display a second MIDI Pulsar port in the drop down for direct assignment in any instrument parameter window, nor in the port assignment drop down for virtual MIDI out ports I create in the environment. It is as though windows XP is...
