hi there John. :) I am currently using two graphics cards in the PC. I removed the second graphics card and replaced it with the Xite1 card. Switched on the Xite-1 then switched on my PC. The PC started up for a few seconds, stopped and restarted again, then stopped and restarted again in this cont...

Re: Cannot install Xite-1 driver

If you had fired up the machine with 2 x PCIE16x GFX cards, 2 x POCO cards & it all worked a treat, then fine, but since it didn't & you've already been messing around with removing cards, just cut the whole thing back to bare essentials & try to get the Xite running in the PCIEx1 slot ...

Re: Reading (UK) area resident with PCIE slot to test Xite-1

that bios error doesn't sound ok. I'd recommend to test the xite in a different pc. ah yes, and you might consider a bios update, if applicable. how old is that box, anyway? It's a Scan DAW computer as reviewed in Sound On Sound and various other such magazines. I have had it for about a week - see...

I'd offer to test the xite in one of may pcs, but I'm not even remotely located near reading... ;) there is really no one with a pcie x1 slot in your area? phew... btw, did you change back to the original cable, and if so, does it behave like before, or more like after you used the generic cable? Re: Cannot install Xite-1 driver

Have you installed the intel chipset driver for the motherboard? the microsoft ones that windows uses by default will "work" for most motherboard components, but not optimally. also have a look in the bios and make sure there is not some option to turn that slot on or off. maybe you have ...

I am not sure what you mean by just having the shield on a different pin would make it inoperable. Why would the shield be on a different pin?

Re: Cannot install Xite-1 driver

the new cable may have an improper pinout. this is a problem for Ralf, i'm sorry to say... but the new I(Maplins) cable worked fine at Maplins when used to play a DVD. I just can't understand why I am getting such different results, both in the Maplins store and on my PC with the Xite-1, using the ...

Re: Cannot install Xite-1 driver

if there is nothing pointing to a xite or at least a pcie to pci bridge (not the onboard intel bridge), your computer does not see anything, which would make the "no xite found" message while installing the driver reasonable. Using the latest free version of Everest under Devices/PCI Devi...

I bought another DVI-D to HDMI cable:- http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48585 The cable that comes supplied with the Xite-1 is a DVI-D Dual Link Male connector to HDMI male connector. The Maplins cable is exactly the same. I tested the cable that came with the Xite-1 at Maplins. I used a...

Thanks for all the help and kind words fellow Zers. :) hntm, I agree about needing help from a user, but I think they are far a few between at this point. (What's your serial number, btw? Re: How big is the Xite1 PCIE card?

Thanks Joel (and Jimmy  ). I found Jimmy's post http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php ... 42#p247642 and it looks like I should have no problem fitting the Xite's PCIE card into the UD4's PCIEx1 slot. :) . Wow!! These PCIE cards are tiny!! :P
