Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

no, i would have to use google and some time to do that. what would be better is for you to choose one and then ask my opinion. i'd be happy to offer what guidance i can that way.

Re: Best mobo and cpu combo

i don't know whyt it's there either, but the fact remains that there are a number of recent motherboards that have PCI slots that work. finding 2 isn't so hard, 3 is a little trickier. so far, all i7 period motherboards have worked very well, except for socket 1155 offerings. finding a used socket 1...

Re: Any car people out here?

yeah, i used to build Mustangs, and others. i had a 65 coupe, my neighbor a 67 fastback highly modified... why? convenience, standardization, corporate stupidity, lawsuits, and legislation. you might as well ask why all the instruments have become homogeneous, or why truly great music is so hard to ...

Re: Micro ATX PCI expander

no, he has an XITE-1 which has a connector in a PCIE slot.
external PCI expansion boxes don't work well.

also, as you can see, he does not have a bunch of dsps inside there and he still needs to be aware of heat. 3 space minimum for a PCI card is a good idea.

Re: 1U PC Rack for Scope/PulsarII?

you should ask Dawman about where to buy the chassis and ps. i used to go to ebay... motherboard and cpu would be more a matter of price and the layout of the chassis/motherboard combination for PCI cards, almost all intel motherboards work with v7. i think i'd still avoid socket 1155 offerings. hea...

Re: 1U PC Rack for Scope/PulsarII?

a 3u rack will be cheaper and easier, if heat and price are the big considerations. otherwise, 1u is fine with the proper riser and fans on high. DSPs generate a lot of heat..

Re: Plugin Latencies

no, there is not. it's a complicated issue. most of the time, it's a matter of a few samples, just like with a hardware digital device. there are a few plugins that will create more latency, but again, it's in the range of hardware. phase compensation on the mixers only ensures that each channel's i...

Re: Pulsar -2 (6 SHARC PCI 32/33 ) w/ second Pulsar in tandem for 24 -32 Chanels of ADAT currently; v 3.1 (a,b & c) on X

sleep is when the computer shuts itself down part-way, to save power. computers with Scope cards can't sleep, because when the OS sleeps, it cuts power to the PCI bus, which makes the computer forget that the card was ever there. the card must be present at a cold boot for the computer to recognize ...

sorry, multiple cards are much more powerful and the cards are generally more powerful, they aren't as convenient used as a synth, as a dedicated hardware box is.

Re: Use Audio inDSP No Response - Plugiator Tips MIDI OX

unfortunately, you can't generate keys. an older Scope card would be much more useful, although not as powerful. the Plugiator plugins are the same devices as the Scope ones. when Creamware went out of business, the technology was sold to SonicCore, who continued to update Scope. SonicCore was start...

Re: Master output and Dither

fixed or floating point won't make that big of a difference. the digital data will go from one place to another with no apparent loss. it's not like an analog transfer. yes, there are dither modules, but they are pointless in anything but the most dynamic acoustic sounds. for any pop music or electr...

Re: need help on 64 bit system

multiple partitions can be a problem if you have only one installation of Scope, or if you use the same project for both 32 and 64bit partitions. the files can load from the wrong partition that way. when that happens, strange behavior will ensue...
