Re: HP xw4600 very hot

Good suggestions about the heatsink and fresh paste. More info about how the computer is behaving is helpful. Like NTN says, an intake and an outtake fan should be the minimum for that many cards. Leaving the case open actually reduces the air flow because the cover isn't helping to force the flow d...

Re: 55” TV Doubling As PC Monitor.

You're hoping to play PC games? Is the Charter router your internet, your cable TV channels, or both? Is it a smart TV with apps for streaming Netflix, etc.? For PC games, you need a GFX card with an HDMI out, and then into the TV. Switch HDMI inputs at the TV and you're up and running. Unless the T...

Re: any downsides of short latency ?

Easy rule of thumb for audio: 1ms = 1ft or 30cm If you really need to be more precise (as in considering significant distances), add about 10% to your distance value for each ms (1ms = 13inches or 33cm). Think of how that applies to live musicians. 3ms becomes almost nonsensical. 6ms is a very small...

Re: Y splitter

Are you splitting, or merging (2 inputs to 1 output)? Because that cable is separating a stereo into two mono signals (or vice versa), there are two separate audio paths, and therefore no impedance mismatch between the paths. If your are splitting a mono signal into separate signals, Garyb is right,...

Re: Scope (XITE) won't launch, but...

Hmm, try launching into your music login, and check Task Manager after you've tried to start scope. You may need to choose More Details... and then see if scope is listed under Processes. Are all of your icons showing in the right hand side of the task bar, or are some of them hidden? No scope in th...

Thanks for all of the info. I'm not an owner myself but I hope they are useful to others who are.

I appreciate your willingness to learn about the history and present it correctly too.

Cheers!

Re: Frozen DSP Chips

Damn, you make me jealous! Pack your water pipe with some snow and enjoy! I'd suggest that you let it thaw. I don't think the chips themselves would be problematic, but the circuit boards and solder joints may suffer. Combine that with the potential for some condensation trapped inside that suddenly...

Re: Pure Chords Scope OSC-MIDI Server - Support-it-ware!

I can't think of a better way to say thank you for everything you have done for the Scope Universe while I budget for your bigger devices. Besides the Music Calculator, I don't know if I will ever really use these (I'm very old-school and have my hands full with everything that is in my humble studi...

Re: Lenovo t430 notebook expresscard slot

I haven't used a hotfix, what is that? I should clarify, the drivers that I lost with Windows updates were for the expresscard slot itself. On my HP laptop, those are included with the storage drivers. I re-installed those and the expresscard started working, from there I was able see the XITE in De...

Re: Lenovo t430 notebook expresscard slot

I have an old HP running XITE successfully on Win10 with the expresscard. I had some trouble recently when I updated to V7, but that was because Windows had lost the drivers during updates to the latest version (1709). Windows wouldn't see the XITE at all until I re-installed the storage drivers, an...

Re: Forum Update

I made constant use of the original Active Topics link, and would love to have it back. But it's not worth stability issues or a lot of extra work for you, especially in light of how much you do already. I can adapt to the new "click-aim-click" method!

It's in the 'Quick links' dropdown under the planetZ logo: Active topics

That said, I'm missing it too, here's to hoping it will be restored to the top of the page as a single-click link!

I wish I could buy you one, and another for me!

I don't think Liquid Edge was saying you should/must buy one, but that he thinks you greatly deserve one! And maybe SC should reward you for the incredible work you have been doing!

And I do mean INCREDIBLE Faxinadu!!

Thank you,

Yes RA, good one for throwing Dante into the mix, those articles are immensely valuable as well.

Gotta keep the iconic name, unless John C. wants a greater degree of separation. Countless references would be lost with the name.
