Re: pci capacity with gigabyte p-35

There are a lot of threads on the Sonar forum about these Gigabyte P35 series boards and their DPC latency issues. Could this be relevant here ? http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1359651&mpage=5&key= I also read there that at the urging of many Sonar members Gigabyte wrote a special BIOS ju...

You're to much experimented with the platform, to use this as an excuse .... You're trying to justify yourself buying Xcite ;-)

PulsarII won't fit !

So I bought my new quadcore with 4Gb RAM, all quiet components with a fanless graphics card, all on an Asus P5Ke wireless board. It has three PCI slots so I thought I'd be safe. But no. One slot is crowded out by the graphics card heatsink; the middle slot has a copper heatsink (on the mobo) in the ...

Valis, you reminded of The Magic Roundabout & in later years, another brittish one called Rainbow. Two programs supposedly for young kids that should never have slipped through the sensors. I guess people were too off their heads to notice the content. What was wrong with the magic rounda...

Very interesting clip. But I think such a thing is only possible in a largely homogenous society.

i have seen LOTR a few times now, and although i really like it, there's quite some little things that, don't really annoy me, but still make me frown... Good as those movies were, they did change quite a few things that could easily have been left alone. The relationship between Rohan & Gondor...

Koyanisqatsi - beautiful soundtrack, great imagery

Dr Strangelove - the supreme example of the power of dialogue

Dark Star - comedy sci-fi, but they also adhere to physics. Very unusual for sci-fi. And what about the all-analog synth soundtrack ?!

Well, everything is still working fine so hopefully it was just that the contacts needed a clean.

But it did make me really appreciate the card all over again - I couldn't think of anything else that would come close.

I thought my PulsarII had died...

I was working away happily when a started getting some crackling and my host started stuttering as if there was a CPU overload. I stopped everything and it seemed OK CPU-wise, but the performance was still terrible. So I rebooted. Scope booted up fine, everything looked normal, but no audio app coul...

Completely ridiculous imho. This guy has a history of crazy marketing and crackups as well as very aggressive reactions to criticism. I wouldn't touch it. The fact that he could make up to $300,000 without giving anyone anything in return also feels wrong to me.

Backtracking a bit - Liquid Len, I also adored the "Chariots of the Gods" soundtracks, very moody and thoughtful. One of the best soundtracks ever imho. As for Garyb's "quantum multiverse" (I think that was the gist of that post ;-) ), the multiverse is like reincarnation: If the...

I agree that the chances of living forever seem vanishingly small (a good thing too), but you don't need to believe in (a/the) God(s) to accept the possibility that consciousness can survive in some form after the death of the body. I've had enough "supernatural" experiences in my life to ...

Slightly OT: Did "Jedi" make it as an official religion anywhere yet ? I know in some censuses there is a provision that any nominated 'religion' becomes official after it receives a certain number of entries on a census. There was certainly a push in Australia during our last census. In t...

Before mono-theism there were (so far as I can research) no significant wars over religion. In the ancient Roman and Greek religious systems there was room for everyone's god or gods. When the Romans acquired new areas (through conquest or alliance) the locals Gods just became part of the wider pant...

Pamela Anderson ? Yech ! Caressing surgically injected chemicals and scar tissue, while oogling cartoon-sized bags of silicon is not the stuff of erotic fantasy.
