Hi everyone, I've just been alerted to this discussion - great to see the comments, and thanks for mentioning my survey. I've been talking and thinking about hardware versions of my synths for 3-4 years now, and at one point it looked like something was going to happen using a specialised version of...

Regarding all this about free devices with Scope 4.0: I really don't think it is the case! The complete package is for new customers, and the Scope 4.0 will be free to download for current customers. Anything else doesn't make financial sense (and let's not forget it's the financial picture that led...

Yes, I believe you can just load the old presets from the new preset list, and you will be asked some questions like, "This is an older file, do you want to load?". It should then go through a quick conversion routine.

OK, the Solaris v2.1 has been released. The 2 new things - Vector mixers and the current preset name shown in the lower left bottom (across the black strip). Plus I added 50 new presets from Stephen Hummel, who was kind enough to include some of his wonderful FM stuff for Solaris! (Thanks, Sephen.) ...

Shayne, Your presets won't be 'nixed'...the only thing is the Vector section added...but I know what you mean; once you create new presets using the vector mixers, then the older presets won't 'know' about the vector parameters, and will just leave them as they were prior to the selecting of the (ol...

Something more... I've just posted this on my site, and wanted to post it here as well. I've been working on adding Vector Synthesis to the next version of Solaris, and it's basically done now. I had a lot of fun with what you see in this picture; 8 drumloops at once, being able to dynamically mix t...

Hi, Converting devices to be Noah-compatible is not so simple. I've mentioned this before somewhere, but there are 2 kinds of 'atoms' in Scope DP - asynchronous, and synchronous. The sync stuff goes on the DSP, the async stuff is handled by your host PC. Since Noah has no host CPU, it uses an additi...

I played the Ion at NAMM....a bit confusing on the user interface, which is not what I expected from first glance. Sound was...well, very sharp and edgy to me...but there you are at the show, with lots of noise around, and having to use medium quality headphones, so...I'd like to hear it through som...

Hi Ben, Yes, some of the RD Modules do have some specific uses which I may need to explain more thoroughly, although I tried to cover these things in the README file. Still....I know what you mean. Most of the oscillator types are already inside the Solaris now, so it's only if you want to "dou...

I'd also like to add that the presets barely scratch the surface of what the Solaris can do (I guess I'd better get busy!). None of them yet make use of the FM oscillator section, or the Wav Oscs (well, using samples in the factory presets would be a bit of a hassle, as I'd have to include them in t...

There is a large Zip file of about 8MB of some 40 MP3s done by Marco Paris. These show off just Marco's presets, but if you get the Demo, you can play through all of the presets (with some "annoying periodic ping and noise burst"...sorry). Send me a request if you would like the Marco Pari...

Hi group!

OK, since response was so few, what I've decided to do is hold off on a Solaris Jr. for now...but I am going to make a slightly reduced price for a short time - now through February 29th, I'm posting a "Leap Year Day Sale" price of EU199 for the Solaris v2.0.

RE; Apple buying CW - no, nothing like that is happening. RE: pricing - plugins are not cheap...but look at ProTools plugin prices. When the first Virus TDM came out, I think it was around $795, which is the price now for the new TDM Virus Indigo (I think it is $499 for the TC Electronics Virus Powe...

OK, so, I've got a few votes for a Solaris Jr., but of course, no one has mentioned what price they'd be willing to go for. My synths are priced according to how much time I have to put in, etc. It's one thing to build something new (the Solaris, even though it started as a revised Orion Cus...

Hi Tom, With the Mod Wheel assigned to both the lowpass and bandpass cutoff, you should get both moving together. If you want to use a user-assigned controller, in the new Solaris v2.0, there are 4 general purpose knobs which you assign by right-clicking over the knob, etc., and then available in th...

Hi, Yes, a Solaris Jr. would have less functions, and use less DSP, be smaller in file size, etc. Probably as follows: 1) 4 oscs (2 multimode, 2 wavetable) 2) one filter (which can select from all 4 types and variations) 3) less envelopes and LFOs 4) no sequencer 5) no modular windows It could still...

Well....I still hange around because Scope DP allows me to create the synths on my own. I don't know how to code for VST, and so would have to hire that out (which I did start doing with the Ambient synth last year). However, after I got some marketing numbers on sales and piracy for VST products, I...

I appreciate all the great comments I've gotten privately regarding the updated Solaris, but it's even nicer to see the public postings!

Just a quick comment...the Access Virus is coded for the Motorola 56000 DSP family. This made porting it to ProTools and TC Electronics DSP cards 'relatively' easy, since the code is the same for those boards. (Pulsar and Scope boards, as is generally known, use the Analog Devices SHARC processor, s...
