Re: MIDI input not working - fixed by reseating on header pins.

I gave the inside of the d-sub a good squirt with my air jet to clear out any dust but it didn't help. I have, however, found a work-around! I have a second soundcard with a working MIDI input, so I am using the ancient MIDI software "MIDI OX" to route MIDI from my second soundcard's MIDI ...

Re: MIDI input not working - fixed by reseating on header pins.

OK, so 6 months have gone by and my MIDI inputs are not working any more. I ordered some Caig Deoxit and treated all the connections on my cards and I/O board, but no joy. Over the years the plastic screws that held the I/O board sandwiched to the main card have slowly been failing for me and I'm do...

Here's a photo of the other sort of IO plate for comparison (albeit with replaced capacitors)

Re: The end of an era

Cakewalk is my main DAW at the moment. I find it to be generally very good, but the GUI does get a little laggy on larger projects.
e.g. Opening the quantize dialogue takes a couple of seconds.

MIDI input not working - fixed by reseating on header pins.

My MIDI input had stopped working.

I gave my daughterboard a wiggle to re-seat it on the header pins.

MIDI input is working again 👍

Feedback in Modular - recursion without delays

I'm trying to make a guitar distortion modular patch and wanted to add a feedback chain to simulate amp feedback. When I connect the feedback it complains about recursion without delays. https://imgur.com/a/u58KOfk Normally, outside of Modular, I get around this by adding a delay plugin into my feed...

I'm back to report that the re-cap was successful!

I've just fixed mine, I'll be putting up a video tutorial "soon". So don't get rid of the cards.

Re: Does this look like a cracked solder joint to you?

It's going well! I've replaced all the 47uF 16V and 47uF 6.3V caps on both Pulsar IIs. I do have a hot air rework tool here also, but I'm finding it easier with the regular iron to be honest. I'm now looking at the I/O board to see which caps I need to order to replace on that. If you could take a l...

Re: Does this look like a cracked solder joint to you?

Good point. I looked online and could only find two photos of the ADAT I/O Plate so have added them to my linked document: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/17WOqBZr1I5CMNnFLgXwaMrL850GPau-vFlqZhaU-rsM/edit?usp=sharing It looks like there were maybe two revisions of the ADAT IO plate, and I hav...

Re: Does this look like a cracked solder joint to you?

OK, fun times. Now that I know what to look for I've noticed that I'm actually missing FOUR capacitors! 😂 I've updated the graphic here to highlight them: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/17WOqBZr1I5CMNnFLgXwaMrL850GPau-vFlqZhaU-rsM/edit?usp=sharing I'm borrowing a hot-air rework tool an...
