Re: True panned

yesterday specifically I was doing comping / (mixing and mastering ALL in SCOPE) of a pianist. She had recorded the piano with 2 mics directly to piano chords... At the end of the mix I found that L (Low notes mic) and R(high notes mic) was very WIDE in image... More stereophonic than the normal of...

It’s fine, my DAW does it but I was trying to achieve it in Scope. I will try mono methods and Dualizer over weekend.

what is the purpose of a stereo file, if you plan to pan it?
Well you can have a stereo file with 2 bongos or a mono guitar with stereo reverb.
Panning the whole signal is different to stereo balance.

Re: True panned

to be honest... I don't get the the term.... what is true?.. since stereo has to do with the illusion of positioning of the instruments, wjich has to do with the volume of them and the left or right speaker..... Well if you have a stereo file with different info in each channel you will lose one of...

True panned

I’ve noticed that panning in the STM mixer is actually a stereo balance control rather than true panning
Is there a device in the Scope environment that allows true panning?

Thanks.

I'm interested in one Pulsar II card. My own died a few weeks ago. Along with the keys for v7 and Dna devices. /deep sigh
You can also get the card fixed. Most people say it’s usually the capacitors that need changing.

Re: VDAT on Windows 10x64

It’s exactly why I liked VDAT. Live you can trigger audio segues and FX, etc. But once you convert it to mp3/4 the magic is lost. I had people complimenting the vocalists, only 2, but triggered their own harmonies and sounded like 4 well produced singers. I prefer hardware for that these days, but ...

Re: VDAT on Windows 10x64

if you get it to work, great. HOWEVER, VDAT is almost 20 years old. it was never intended to work in 64bit windows, because 64bit windows was not even something that existed back then. if you use ANY version of VDAT in 64bit, you will have problems. Thanks for info Gary. I didn't know that. I use i...

VDAT shouldn't work in 64 bit in v5.1 either.
I can’t remember version but I have one working for recording. It just doesn’t save in project, maybe due to the tape being loaded.

VDAT does not work in 64bit right now.
And there was me trying to record my Daw tracks into it for half an hour. I guess 5.1 has to come back out for a day.

Optimaster and amplitude

I was just wondering if optimaster is really designed for audio levels to be nearer to 0dBfs than, say, -18dBfs. I find that if you use it
on your whole track at low level the wizard brings up the low level information way too much. In general it’s very transparent and powerful.
