Re: JANUARY 10th, 2012 - REVOLUTION DAY!

What I meant to say was - in Germany no revolution starts before lunch. The wurst has to be devoured :)

Re: MIDI Controls Live

Pardon an ignorant user who have been living under a rock the last five years - does this enable me to select presets in my Scope devices via program changes?

Re: The worst sounding compressor

In the late 80s early 90s lots of really odd stuff came out in the market. While I have a penchant for all Ensoniq - what else is in the same caliber? Effect-wise I mean.

Re: The worst sounding compressor

you will certainly not be able to replicate an Ensoniq distortion with Scope or anything else.... all their effects are pretty unique and sound through the hardware anyways (I have the EPS 16+; which has the full range of effects of the DP4). Hey SpaceF - I just found an old version of your Blackbo...

Re: The worst sounding compressor

I suspect one can tweak Aderns FatCat to be pretty muddy and pumping Funny - I was actually eying that one! Will download and experiment. Damn - I can't wait until I get my new sound card so I can start creating all my mad chains. That's what always bring down my Mac to its knees and I have to star...

The worst sounding compressor

Although I do appreciate transparent compressors when dealing with vocals - I have a penchant for odd, lo-fi compressors, especially when shaping the sound of drums. My latest favorite setup includes an Ensoniq DP/4 with a chain like this: compressor, vcf distortion, compressor, compressor, and it w...

Re: Scope & VNC in the year 2011

unless you want to bury the machine deep inside something or outside the room I see few reasons to remote control. TFTs (used) are bargain and a wireless keyboard/mouse could reduce cable. After some experimenting, I've decided to not go the VNC or Synergy Route, but do as you suggested. Monitor, m...

Re: Scope & VNC in the year 2011

Wow - thanks for the offer! I hope you don't mind if I wait a little until I've decided which path I'll take? It's just that my Scope computer is so totally optimized in XP and disabled IRQ:s and stuff that I think it will take some time to activate the network and get that part running. Well, hones...

Scope & VNC in the year 2011

Hi all - I'm still trying to find a way to use my old Scope system in my Mac-centric studio, and I've been toying with the idea of using some kind of VNC solution. After reading through older posts about VNC it seems the most common criticism was slow updates on the graphics - maybe this is less of ...

Re: Back

I think you still have to own a 14dsp SCOPE Professional card in order to get the current SDK. I am curriouse to how the rule will be when the new SDK 5 is released and the rest of the new scope hardware, but i also would'nt expect it to change much either, but who knows? That's such a weird policy...

Re: Back

Thanks a lot you all - Xor appeals to me a lot. Adern have cool ideas, that's for sure. Although Orbitone - Synchrome and Vorb are two of my all-time favourites.

How about the SDK - what was the word on that? Is it free for anyone these days, or is it still a cumbersome task to get your hands on?

Re: Back

winger: thanks, mate. But I succeeded to sort it out at the source by using Bidule.
Xite: yes, Bidule is like a Swiss Army Knife - but with that difference it's working and it's useful!

Apart from the John Bowen stuff - is there any synthesizers that one should look into?

Re: Back

After using Scope and fine-tuning my old PC for hours I have come to the following conclusions: 1) I remember why I went OS X. I haven't been dealing as much with system configuration as I have done this evening. Reminds me of the good old days and why I'm so happy I'm working in OS X. This is not i...

Re: Back

Yeah, I sort of don't want to mess around with my old computer when it had the good behaviour of starting on the first attempt! Just now, I was playing around with Minimax and Solaris and boy if that brought back memories. I'm really looking forward to create new sounds for the (hardware/software) S...

Pretty much the reason why I bother booting up my old computer actually. I miss Solaris a lot! Glad you liked them :)
