Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

After a bit of hemming and hawing, I think I'm going to get the MOTU LP32. Should give allow me to sequence in Bitwig + Linux, but has a ton of ADATs I can connect to my Scope setup and OctoPre. I've generally used my A16 Ultra through Z-Link and routed through via the Scope workspace, but I presume...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Sonic|Core isn't a large company, and Scope is basically Botique hardware at this point. We love it, but we don't expect the same level of development that you get from companies with considerably more resources. That DOESN'T mean that Sonic|Core wouldn't love to meet customer demand, simply that (...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Wine is just replacing Windoze system calls by a reverse engineered library - it doesn't cover any hardware related code. So you never can 'install Scope software under Wine'. Depending on the version of the Win runtime library that part of the software may run, but will get no response from the PC...

Did they take it down from the home page? I'm not sure what folks were seeing there. New plugin?

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Yup. I'm looking at a USB to ADAT streaming device or maybe trying to get Jack2 for Windows to pipe Scope's ASIO outs through Jack's network port (which I believe is what RME's networkable devices do under the hood). Especially if I send the audio over my local network, using RDP to control the wind...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

JUCE doesn't work. Right, but given what we do have that works, would it require a total re-write to support Mac & Linux, or just a critical subsystem like the hardware validation? Just curious how "in the cards" it might be, on a scale from "never going to happen" to "someday but not today". I wou...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

That's a shame. Do you happen to know what, without the proposed switch to JUCE that was contemplated for version 6, the hurdles are at this point for a Linux / Mac release?

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

I also wonder if something like this could be used to shim the I/O ports in and out of a Wine-install of the scope software:

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

cool i will try...but is it right that you have only 4 tracks with PortAudio? is PortAudio have better performance? than asio scope? thnaks I honestly can't remember. I don't recall that to be the case, but as I mentioned, I was able to get the Scope ASIO driver working, so I haven't played with Ja...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Yeah, I said driver above, but I meant it mostly as shorthand. I'm fairly confident that Linux can already see and communicate with the PCI cards. The tricky part would be getting the Scope Platform running and past the hardware verification stage. There's a lot of Windows-only configurations and li...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Thanks asiofixer, I had looked at that ADAT streamer. It looks exactly like what I want. What wasn't clear from the description was whether it a proper audio interface or just an audio routing device. I'm actually less stuck than I was when I started this thread. A Scope 7 update fixed the issue I w...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

Gotcha.

I haven't tried Jack with Scope 7, and when I ran it with Scope 5.x and in 64bit. I don't know if those differences are at play. I did occasionally get a blue screen, but it was usually a thing that happened while I was making changes to an active session.

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO source

With Scope 7 you shouldn't need to do this at all. The updated ASIO module should work with current versions of Bitwig

The signed, updated ASIO drivers work with Bitwig (or other applications that are finicky about sticking to spec) again

Re: Scope 7.X Wishlist

I would love to see developer hooks that are accessible via JavaScript. Being able to insert and connect devices, get and set their parameters would be amazing. Given how flexible the web as a layout system is, and how robust web-audio and web-midi are getting, it would be pretty easy to create some...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

For anyone else who might find themselves in this boat. Here's a quick rundown of how I solved the issue. Step 1: Install Jack for Windows (http://www.jackaudio.org/faq/jack_on_windows.html) Step 2: Install ASIO4All (http://asio4all.com/) Step 3: Register Jack Router (regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

Anyone have experience setting up ASIO4All + Jack (for Windows)? The ASIOLink software is still unpurchasable and I've reached out to the developer several times to try and give him my money, but it looks like a dead end. I'm thinking ASIO4All + Jack may be the way forward, but I'm having trouble ge...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

Does anyone know of another, similar application to this ASIO Link software? The payment system on their site is still down and the vendor hasn't returned any of my emails around how I can give them my money. Surely this can't be the only tool that solves this problem, but I haven't come up with muc...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

@JoPo, I tried a trial copy of that Odeus ASIO Link software you recommended. Ugly as sin, and a little confusing at first, but I was able to get back into Bitwig 2.x. Unfortunately, the shopping cart functionality on the website is "Unavailable due to technical difficulties" so I'm suffering throug...

Re: Issues with Bitwig 2.x and questions about 2nd ASIO sour

That looks awesome! I'll give it a whirl for sure. Thank you. I'm also evaluating picking up something like this . This would allow me to work on my Ubuntu Laptop remotely and then link up to my sonic-core cards and octopre via ADAT when I want to do performance work with the DSPs. Is there anyone w...
