Re: Monitoring with Scope

you may consider to split the setup into multiple mixers if you're controlling it from another surface anyway.

Re: Bells

Python Pro (if available) would be excellent in this domain: the FM part is quite regular, but the fun starts when you feed back the fx section into the synth engine and it's resonators... 8)

Re: Scope 7 Windows 10

sorry for dropping a stupid question (too lazy to wade through all that M$ online stuff)...
If I get one of those modern superflyers that require Win-10, install Scope 7 and after that disconnect it from the net:
will it continue to work without contact to it's mothership or throw the towel one day ?

Re: looking into/modding existing devices ?

... I would imagine locking the SDK down was a necessity when people like Timeworks, Brainworx and so on became interested in the platform. But that's just off the top of my head, I have no internal knowledge of such things and will defer here to anyone who is more informed and experienced... it wa...

Re: Recording into STS sampker

I used it on my old XP box in 32bit mode, which is off inet.
But in general I prefer the free Wavosaur sample editor for such tasks, it's very efficient to preprocess recordings and snip pieces from them. Worth checking out ;)

Re: Scope 5 still available?

Scope 5.1 isn't a freebie... but from all I've read here about Win-10 Scope 7 is the way to go, seriously ;)
(even if you have to wait a moment, otherwise you'll run into trouble sooner or later... imho)

Re: Recording into STS sampker

I never used an STS Sampler for that purpose, but just tried with STS 3000 in Scope 5.1 anyway:
records 1 stereo file, the dual mono seems to be an import feature in particular for Akai CDs.

Re: VDAT additional tags available ?

I have a hardware BRC (and a spare one), read the Alesis manuals and really like the thing. Even got it working on a dedicated system (at least to a degree) The Alesis communication is serial sysex data over a RS232c (9 pin) cable - and that seems to be it's weak point: for whatever reason sync may ...

VDAT additional tags available ?

When VDAT creates a virtual tape, there's this vtp textfile with just a lonesome filename tag (location on disk) Maybe there are more available ? Imho it's not completely beyond reality as the device mimics the Alesis BRC very closely (together with the VRC). So before starting the exercise of an au...

Re: Timeworks Mastercomp phase issue?

I was very pleased with the STW MasterComp, but after adding SAW Studio's Levelizer to my workflow never used it again. (MasterComp is quite a DSP hog in softknee mode and I couldn't tell the difference anyway) Anwida Soft's L1V is an even better performer in THD figures, which are practically non-e...

Re: Scope / S-C Reverbs

The stock reverbs of the S-C series are reincarnations of Warp69's former plugins - imho pretty good reverbs (dunno if anything except the graphics was modified) Early First (Paul Tanti) made some excellent reverbs (sold in versions with different resource requirements) I deeply regret that I only h...

Re: timeout waiting for acknowledge from dsp 0

you need very (!) good soldering skills to mess with these multi-layer boards. I don't question Ripper has - just a warning to the unexperienced or those equipped with non-adequate gear... see below :D But in fact a worn out cap can trigger bizarre messages: my Pulsar One someday was commented to ha...

Funny thing in this context: I once met another climber who was quite involved with FPGA technology.
Of course for industrial applications (where the money is...), but it's a fascinating theme.

Re: Waldorf Kyra (Valkyrie)

it's an interesting device for sure - the designer mentioned he got stuck with Sharcs at some point.
But he outsourced most of the implementation to fellows who know how to handle this stuff.
It's very different from CPU/DSP programming.

Re: Midi notes hanging....

Midi input may suffer from aging optocouplers or (same effect) if the transmitter doesn't produce enough juice. I can't use my iConnectivity interface to send midi to Scope, but the old Alesis ioDock works flawless. (same iPad, same Scope system, so no influences from OS) The iConnectivity works wit...

Many aeons ago I did a course on the CMI II (I think it was) so I might be tempted to remind me of the nightmare that was Page R (I assume they've included it).
Page R is my favourite midi sequencer, operated with a cheapo stylus on the iPad... :D

Re: Can't find file for STW devices

oh, the never ending story of the hidden/system file attributes in the dsp folder... You dont't find that file because the name in he dialog is mapped to a different filename in the dsp.idx (text) file. The file is right in place, but got the wrong attributes which happens for obscure reasons. This ...
