Re: Midi to expression signal

You basically need a Wah-pedal with CV input...
as that's what the potentiometer in a regular Wah does: it adjusts a voltage over a certain range.
But I don't think 'real' voltage specs on regular pedals will meet CV specs. Are you into DIY ?

Re: MPA: A whole new Chapter for SCOPE and you are invited

Noone buys an Xite to run 'old Scope plugins', you want it for it's routing and rock-solid audio performance. Of course the synths and fx are welcome as a huge bonus... Moog released a Model D ($15) that runs on an iPhone 5s :D In fact I could cover most of my sound synthesis in IOS only and while (...

Re: BX Oberhausen

The idea of pan-spreading filters is indeed cool and was applied 20 years ago on the Koblo Vibra Synth on Powermacs. It's my only native PPC synth and the filter (actually a combination of the ones listed below) is handled similiar to the Solaris way. And plain stunning - as it's almost alias free. ...

Re: Only 1 pci slot would a PCIE To PCI Adapter Card work for second Pulsar 2

I'm not shure about that brand pictured, but I once had such an item (also cheapo) and it did work flawless. (but didn't have any influence on PCI throughput) The main problem with that thing is that it's designed for half-height cards - you have to remove the slot bracket to get a Scope card in at ...

Re: MPA: A whole new Chapter for SCOPE and you are invited

on all product pages most of the space is covered by housings and mounting parts, only 10-15% display processing 'gear'. Too many 'possibilities' and vague statements, few (if any) new facts, just that revitalizing story. I'll stick with my trusty old Scope and let it communicate via classic analog/...

Re: Acon Digital's Verberate 2 reverb

The Scope way of digital audio processing isn't related to the DSP chip used - in particular regarding reverb. ;) It's all about algorithms (the math part) and the ears to tell (very) subtle differences - I fail in both domains... I did a small experiment (because the UM1280 is a delay) and rebuilt ...

Re: Acon Digital's Verberate 2 reverb

Scope reverbs aren't 'bad' or inferior (to whatever) at all. The current Plate and Ambience are by Warp69 (I bought the original versions) and they certainly represent a stage in his process to model the LX480. Of course the latter got a few more years of developement and may be trusted as a virtual...

Re: Acon Digital's Verberate 2 reverb

I got the idea from the description, but didn't find the examples enough convincing to trigger the must-have button. (to be fair Soundcloud certainly blurs the results) But mainly it's in fact this toolchest phenomenon: in Windoze it's mostly Valhalla Room or Plate and the SawStudio Reverb, in MacOS...

Re: Remote control PC with Pulsar from Mac?

I once had this board (single slot) https://www.cnet.com/products/foxconn-45cs-motherboard-mini-itx-intel-atom-230-i945gc/ It's lame in CPU specs, but had the best PCI throughput I ever experienced and it recorded 32 tracks with VDAT to a 2.5" notebook HD. The standard cooler needs a small fan (get ...

Re: Tape delay 64 bits

in fact - but they tried to solve it inhouse and couldn't even figure out why one system failed and another worked. (and they surely are more experienced than most of us in system debugging) Afaik a significant portion of the software is based on M$'s Visual Studio and that's neither the most sophis...

Re: Tape delay 64 bits

I would have posted the mail by Ralf Dressel from 2011, but it's in German. Bottomline: we fixed the device long ago (so this copy is valid), and we have a Sony and an Asus Notebook both running a Win 64bit OS. One works, the other fails, no idea why. Imho it's not worth messing around with it. The ...

Re: Tape delay 64 bits

JoPo was right (of course), here's the 64bit version attached - and it's definitely fixed. The files were sent because they were missing on the install, and a note stated the fix, but: at Sonic Core they had no clue why they worked without problems on some 64bit installations and failed on others. I...

Re: Would I need Modular IV to build devices with the SDK?

nice one, Faxi 8) I recall John Bowen's Python Pro Synth, which turned a modular patch (Python) into a standalone device. It's not an exact remake, because an effect section was added and integrated into the synth feedback. A significant extension, which shows how SDK can be used to improve an alrea...

Re: Would I need Modular IV to build devices with the SDK?

there is a learning curve of course, as digital audio is a complex domain. But it's the most flat curve you'll find - regardless where you look. If you go the classic way and get an Analog Devices Sharc Prototyping board, you'll need their Visual DSP SDK. Then write DSP Assembler (possibly cloaked b...

Re: Would I need Modular IV to build devices with the SDK?

yes, a lot of the logic structure of the device is handled in a modular way, but it looks like the Scope routing window. Modular modules have their own graphic signature image on top, similiar to the (say) mixer surface on top of the mixer rectangle in routing window. That rectangle could be opened ...
